On the homepage, is that "people online" counter accurate?
    If so, WOW.

    Yep, it is.

Wish more people would sign-up and post, instead of just lurking in the background and read the threads only.

I also finally fixed the long delay in first launching our site, if you have nothing cached on your PC, it was getting to almost 12 seconds load time on the front page, which is an killer for search engines and guests.

Now you might see that counter even increase more!

Wow that's a lot, and one heck of server(s) to handle such load. I always thought it an accumulation of user(s) visit over a period of time (15, 30, 60 ... minutes)

It updates every 15 minutes, so it is a snapshot of those online within the current 15 minute bracket.

On average most users spend about 4 to 6 minutes, reading new posts then they move on.

i found a user, with a session from 8:00 this morning.
so i guess here are users "online" with more than 12hours activity back

to have an accurate opinion on the actual amount on users online,
we have to know how long a session last ( can be set in the acp ).

but this is up to the admins, to tell such details.

    greetz && regards

either way, like one guy said, thats quite a server load, yet i hardly see any adds or donation links anywhere.
you gotta be getting money from somewhere, cant be all from one sponsor.

4 to 6 minutes for those without accounts, just random hits browsing links from other sites.

Those with accounts, never seem to get off this site. -- they are online up to 12 to 14 hours per day here.

you could always install that "reply to thread, to see content" hack.
i think vbulleton has worked that hack prety good by now.
or are they called modules or something now?
