    Any firmware can brick a system it just needs proper testing first

    in theroy this should be safe as its a ram patch not a perm flash change

    they are using flukes1's tools to make a cfw with peek poke enabled.
    this as far as im aware has not bricked any units.
    then you have to run the pkg everytime you boot the ps3 to jailbreak it to allow backup managers access to syscalls.

    this is exactly the same process as the usb jb on 3.41 so is a temoprary patch of lv2 in ram so no chance of a brick.

    myself personally im sticking to a dongle untill they release a complete cfw, running a pkg on boot is same as using the dongle so i gain nothing atm, i dont play the games that need 3.55 and i dont use psn

    Same once there is a stable cfw i will install but i got 2 ps3s and to be honest fifa is all i play online
