check for hacked firmware for it....that's the only thing that's going to do it.

ok if i hack the drive i found i will be changing the make of the drive...how do i go back if something goes wrng
EDIT what hex editor should i use.
EDIT: ok i got hex workshop ( i hope thats good) and i got the update file a forum told me to get b5g9.exe and i tryied to edit it but i cant find the values that they said to look for.... i have no clue what i am doing so if someone could do this 2 minute fix for me then tell me where it was at and show me how they did it... ( i dont like to be spoon feed but i really wantthis firmware)

i think i really screwed up i flashed my phillips 8601 dl burner with program below and now i cant find the original firmware for the drive
EDIT: anyone i really need this firmware i need my dual layer burner back

ok i just talked to dell.... for all those that have flashed a drive with bad results from dell.. they are sending me a new drive phillips DVD8601 16x +- rw with dl support.... no questions asked for free
got my drive today dell rocks no matter what anyone says... I broke the drive and they sent a new one
was you still under warrenty? dell never like to give anything free. accept a cdr burner with a package upgrade![]()
