I have accepting the fact for about a year now that my laser were dead.
Now with the release of shadow of colossus i became intrested in fixing it becuse it's not hd comp.
So i start to read up on what to do...
First step. turn diagnostic mode on.
I did, and it works! crazy! crazy!

so i have been missing out on loads of big titles this year, and i were only a fue button presses from geting it to work.
i just needed to tell someone, im so happy, i have loads of games to play now!

I had one customer say diagnostic mode help their ailing PStwo (sounded like dead beef almost). Never used it myself, but I should give this a try.

What is Diagnostic mode & how do I use it?

I have a v7 PS2 where the laser appeared to go dead (no DVD or DVDR reads & slow CD/CDR reads).

After adjusting the laser pots & azimuth, it now reads DVD & CD/CDR, but not DVDR.

i am surprised that you have laser issues with your v7, if anything after a good cleaning they usaully work just find without touching the pots.
