That's pathetic... Xbox is quite contradictory to theirselves.

    1. THey say you can play copies of games that you legally own the original...But XBox doesn't allow you to play copies.
    2. People make a chip so that you can play these copies on XBox (sounds perfectly legal to me).
    3. Somebody sells them, and goes to JAIL!

WTF??? Is the legal system retarded. Fact is that MOST people are probaly using this to Pirate games, but theres no PROOF!!! Unless they search your house...They aint got shit. THis is pathetic, and just goes to show you how great the justice system is. Something that's perfectly legal to do...People goto JAIL? ****! While there at it they might as well throw Ronald McDonald in jail for making people fat, Bobo the Clown for scaring children, Micheal Jackson for singing (especially for looking like he does), and Christina Aguillera for looking like a little slut . All of those things are perfectly legal, but they should go if this guy shoudl goto jail...I say send all these people to jail!

Is selling a blank chip (like the Matrix) with the programmer is legal? I guess that would be the only solution for USA XBOX modchip sellers.

Arrrrrrrrr, I think there is more to it than just that fellas. You see ISOnewz also provided links as to where to get yon copied software. That is why the poor chap got slammed away, he made available for free, copies of copyrighted material. The fact that he sold Modchips is superficial. Modchip is a new "buzzword" out there in the media because there be so much controversy over them.

tis much like yon dumb lady that burned her crotch by spilling McDonald's coffee on it while she drove. Everybody was like WTF! but what most people weren't told and didn't know was that that particular McDonald's had been told several times by the Food Inspector to turn the temp of the coffee down.

Arrrrrrr, the advantages of working with some of the most powerful attorneys in the country. har har har...I can get the inside legal scoop, so I can!

Here's just my 2 cents. Rocci was selling the original Enigmah chips which had a hacked version of the XBox BIOS. That's not legal at all, it's basically akin to selling a hacked version of Windows and hoping you won't get busted. The BIOS is protected by copyright law and cannot be distributed in hacked version.
However, selling blank chips without the BIOS probably would be OK. I say probably cause god knows how MS would go after you if you did that.
And to address Cpt_Obvious, Isonews did not provide links, he was arrested and convicted for selling a circumvention device in violation of the DMCA. The fact that he advertised on isonews shows an incredible stupidity. And yes, I also have access to Lexis and Westlaw, it's one of the perks of being in law school.

enigmah chips didnt have a hacked bios on them.. one of the few that just patched

isonews never had links to pirated software'

and i think blank chips would go down too as their only use is to circumvent security of the console

i dont understand this, how come it is illegal for him to sell these modchips, yet there are 100s of mod chip sellers and re-sellers all over the world and internet, and yet they arent being sent to jail???

Why should only HE get punished and not, for instance, www.divineo.co.uk and the likes.....just doesnt make sense.
