The iPod has great sound, but the headphones it comes with aren't very good.
fat mike, how do you charge your ipod
does it have to be connected to a pc, or can it just be pluged into a wall plug?
Either or. Just make sure to get yourself a firewire card. The data transfer performance really SUCKED with the usb2.0 card - well, it did when I still had the thing.
I gotta agree with Mike - the headphones really aren't that great. Grab yourself something nice like the Grado SR60's for about $50 to pull out some of the iPod's true sound.
heh I like sony headpgones that go for about $20...support sony emad! :P
It is amazing how much the headphones can change things. I tested out a $200 pair of Bose headphones and was blown out of the water. Sounded as though your were actually there when the artist was doing the recording.
When I went looking for my 'phones, I found a store that allowed me to test some of the best phones on the market. Surprisingly, the bose sounded worse than the cheapest Grados and Sennheisers. You have gotta try something like the Sennheiser hd650 ($400+) - that just blew me away...and spoiled my earsOriginally posted by bighap

I bought the sony MDR v500's - the bass was muddy, the midtones were negligible and the treble nearly made me deaf. The company's only one that's good for spoiled ears is the mdr v7506 but that was about $100 out of my price range when I went shopping. They also have good ear canal phones that I'm looking into as replacement to my v500's.Originally posted by thetieger

Well, I'm not a fan of paying more that 10-20$ on headphone so the iPod stock headphone sound really great to me. I used to listen to my disc man with the crappiest earbud you could find. And I charge my iPod either by connecting it to my fire wire card or with the AC adapter that come with it when I listen to it in my room.
i have been doing a lot of digging and have been finding that ipods are not as good as they are made out to be
i have been told that the battery's on the ipod fail after a year of using them, its its 250 to replace this battery
in fact, there has been a site made up to address this problem
ipodsdirtysecret.com
i now know that ipods do not play wma, and all my songs on my pc are wma.....so that's trouble for me
im still not sure what mp3 player im going to buy, but the ipod no longer seems to be the best one out there
sorry too all those who own a ipod.....
Well, your fact are just untrue Gatecrasher2. The batterie last far longer than one year and Apple have a new warranty covering any battery issue you might have. And you can replace an out of warranty iPod battery for 99$ at the apple store. And you can even replace it yourself, there is a website that sell iPod 1g/2g and 3g battery for 49.99$ and show you how to do it. Anyway, you can do what you want but most people who spread those rumor doesn't even own an iPod and hate them because they are made by Apple or idiot thing like this. You have about 3 people right here who own one of those and tell you they are pretty good. Choose who you wanna trust. I suggest you visiting iPodlounge and check their forum.
