It seems that not only are terrorists involved in drugs, but now they have moved on to IP piracy. It's amazing how anti American terrorists are, they seem to be encouraging everything America is opposed to.

    http://news.com.com/Terrorist+link+t...3-5722835.html

Counterfeit DVDs and cigarettes may be funding terrorists.

That's what the Senate Homeland Security committee heard Wednesday from John Stedman, a lieutenant in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department who's responsible for an eight-person team of intellectual property (IPR) investigators.

"Some associates of terrorist groups may be involved in IPR crime," Stedman said. "During the course of our investigations, we have encountered suspects who have shown great affinity for Hezbollah and its leadership."

Even though Stedman's evidence is circumstantial, his testimony comes as Congress is expected to consider new copyright legislation this year. An invocation of terrorism, the trump card of modern American politics, could ease the passage of the next major expansion of copyright powers.

Steadman said he saw Hezbollah flags and photographs of the group's leader in homes that he raided, coupled with anti-Israel sentiments on the part of those arrested.

But another witness, Kris Buckner, the president of a private investigation firm that looks into intellectual property violations, said: "I am also frequently asked if terrorist groups profit from the sale of counterfeit goods. I do not know the answer to that question." Buckner has, however, heard "subjects make anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish statements" on raids.

The 9/11 Commission never managed to link Hezbollah to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. But the commission claimed that Iran and Hezbollah provided assistance to al-Qaida on other occasions, including joint training exercises.

Matthew Levitt, a senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy who also testified, said that "Hezbollah depends on a wide variety of criminal enterprises, ranging from smuggling to fraud to drug trade to diamond trade in regions across the world, including North America, South America and the Middle East, to raise money."

Hezbollah has attacked U.S. forces in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia and Israelis in many countries.

Sounds like a bunch of republican BS. More excuses for taking away peoples freedoms and distraction from all the billions the US has invested in terror.

Next time you see a shot of a jammed LA freeway with all the single occupant SUV?s, think about who and what really supports terrorists.

It seems terrorists will play with copying some DVD just to earn 1 buck each, while they can sell drugs/firearms and earn a thousand more, hehe... Looks someone over there is really in panic because of PIRACY, hehe... By the way they have a new method in fighting against piracy here: if you drop one pirated copy into the trash at the cinema you can watch a movie for free... . Nice and easy way to collect some fingerprints/photos and they will easily get down to you sometime later. Quite a hard price for a "free movie", hehe.

    regards, Stephen

Invasion of privacy seems to the be word of the day. Did you guys hear about that mom that's facing charges of contributing to juvenile delinquency by hiring a stripper for her son's 16th birthday? The dad and the stripper are also facing similar charges.

I saw it on CNN Sunday morning and I thought it was the stupidest thing I've ever heard. You think he hasn't been whacking off to Jenna Jameson on the Internet? How can learning about sex contribute to delinquency? Seriously.

I'm just waiting for the inevitable message, "By downloading mp3's and movies from the internet, you are supporting terrorism."

Well they claim it's taking part of the Communist spirit, so I'd say we're practically there.

i saw a simmlar article in a video store i was hiring a movie from when I was on holidays.

while explaining to a friend how terorists sell pirated movies as an income source, and how I believe that distrobuting movies illegally over the internet is not wrong, the store owner interupted and gave me a big lecture about how "pirates" like me cost him business.

i explained that the terrorist groups were in the wrong by selling the pirated releaseses, and how the REAL release groups who make these movies available to us condem piracy(ie, selling the releases).

the public will never understand this, and will always condem the scene as a bunch of pirates. i believe that downloading and watching movies from the REAL scene is good, because it encourages us to go see the film in the cinema or buy it on dvd. the shop owner however i could not convince. its only when the releases get out on to p2p, which is when kids who do not understand the scene start burning their movies and selling them to their friends.
