Internet Explorer Problems –

OK...I went to Verizon for support on this matter and got absolutely no help what-so-ever...I went to Microsoft, but it'll be quite the frosty day in hell before I pay $35 for support...so maybe somebody here can help me out...
I'm using Internet Explorer with all the current updates, and Windows XP with SP2 and all the current updates...
OK, here's the deal, please bear with me...
Whenever I click on a "sponsored link" (for example, a link that will appear
on the address bar as
http://www.google.com/pagead/iclk?ad...b-A8gBAQ&num=1
, where the site's address that I'm currently at appears in front of the
redirected address) I receive a "Cannot find server" notice...how can I fix
this to allow those links to load properly???
It's not just google...it's everything...I can't redirect on espn.com or anywhere...
Anyone got any advice??? I really don't give a shit if you like Netscape, Firefox, etc better...I just wanna know how to fix this issue...
Thanks...

In Firefox I get the message "The connection was refused when attempting to contact (insert website here)"...but I did import my settings from IE when I was setting up Firefox...
I've tried disabling my firewalls, and it hasn't helped...

Here's the post that finally solved my problem...just in case anybody is actually interested or suffers from a similar problem:
"Hi,
Since these "sponsored links" are paid ads, do you have any third-party
programs running that would be blocking an ad?
How about the HOSTS file from http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm ? Make
sure that Windows is showing hidden files and is not hiding file extensions
for known file types then check for a HOSTS file at
[C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc] Rename the HOSTS file to HOSTS.OLD to
disable it. There are some google entries in that HOSTS file."
I renamed my HOSTS file to HOSTS.OLD and presto, no more problem...
