alchybear at NGU has "decrypted" (well he has used the pup ectractor) the new FW 3.61 for comparison w/ 3.60



Sony said they would have encrypted the new FW even more, but the PUP extractor (http://dl.qj.net/playstation-3/tools...ctor-v100.html) still does its job.

I've upgraded from 3.55cfw - 3.61ofw, I think the scene is dieing slowly, nothing happening, it was fun whilst it lasted but online gaming is the way to go, and when you think about it, how many consoles that are hacked/modded/jailbroken "whatever u wanna call it" are actually able to play online?? Not many if at all and the ones that can run the risk of getting banned every time they go online. Single player (sat at home alone, no online) is a thing of the past, that's why people keep buying a 2nd,3rd,4th and in my case 5th console, as jailbreaking/flashing leads you into a false sense of security, that your gonna end up with the ultimate gaming machine after doing these exploits! Well you don't! in most scenarios you get left behind in the times whilst everyone else is enjoying the real experience of online gaming. The real value of cfw would be to have the best of both worlds on one console, but in reality cfw&ofw on the one console that can play online and home brew ain't never ever ever gonna happen, so in the case of all ps3 owners on cfw3.55 who can't afford another console for online play, I suggest upgrade to 3.61 and enjoy the experience of online gaming, cuz that's why you purchased it, and for those who can afford 2x games consoles ......... Enjoy the best of both worlds

I actually bought my PS3 initially for Final Fantasy 13.
Then I became excited that it was a blu-ray player and I could get high quality movies. Then came games.
I love games like Ratchet and Clank, Bayonetta, Brutal Legend, Heavy Rain, Mortal Kombat, and Little Big Planet for their game play.
As for online capabilities, it was and still is the last thing on my list.
I have rarely used online functions when it comes to games. I absolutely hate (emphasis on hate) FPS games - a big seller when it comes to online - anyway, so when it comes to me having no online functionality, I feel like I'm hardly missing anything at all.

Ginez, you are so wrong...the ps3 scene is not dead AT ALL. Just because you dont see 3-4 new homebrew on the front page everyday does not mean its dead. There are still thousands and thousands of thinks to do, games to play and stuff to do. And it is still being done. Also PSN is back online and in sometime for the rest of the world, so the main objective now is to find ways to get online and i am pretty sure, devs are already working around the clock to find a way and to get their respect.

Since you updated its of no use now, so enjoy your ofw life, but just for the record..we are not dead, we are still growing and growing fast.

a friend of mine borrowed me COD MW2 and Black ops, i made a backup of them with my (now scondary) PS3

MW2 + BlackOps = 120@
second PS3 (w/ 2 Games [ebay]) = 70+ 20 € shipping
90 - 120 = 30€ = PROFIT+++
