idea but not a coder
i had an idea of what if we just built an operating system that could run nothing but our homebrew/emulaters for older/newer computers and made drivers that could use a 360 controller /wii motes ps2/ps3 controllers
even such devices as a kinect or even the new ps move(and ps eye)
have an app system like ios/android has
run games/videos/music/etc
i don't know just some thing cool
this was just off the top of my mind

lol, seriously, sounds like linux to me

well i mean a much more user-friendly os like the videogame machines we use for homebrew and other media
make a nice menu like the xmb code anything you want for it
make the os super light like an android/ios os is, then make it avalible for 32bit/64bit powerpc. don't make it hog ram and graphic power
kind for like pandora the homebrew portable but is for desktops
sure i know about linux and like it but it seems we need some thing that anyone could use weather or not we could afford a new pc or not
but it's just a thought cuss the ps3 was great when i could use linux but half the time i needed a internet connection and didn't have one

Much easier to grab a linux kernal and program over top of that and just use something like cedega or whatever the games emulation is on that platform.
What you are talking about would take a good 3-4 years if it was from scratch. Plus it wouldn't have full game support unless it had DirectX integration which I'm afraid is impossible because of the lack of source. Emulation is the second best thing to do.

Reminds me of a really good project that was going on before OtherOS got pulled. Cannot remember what it was called, but it was a linux build with an arcade over the top. Had everything from Atari, up to Super Nintendo, GBA, and MAME. Unfortionately 3.20 ruined that for me...
