my current dvd encoder had dose not seem to like xivd here is what I need

it needs to be able to handle xivd, preserve the orignals aspect ratio and give at least almost correct estamatons of finished sizes

all it realy has to do is output the VOB files I can make the menus and rest of the stuff myself though if it makes a compleat dvd that is fine also

    what should I use?

TMPGEncoder + TMPG DVD Author will do the job easily. They are cheap, and can be tested for 30 days. Of course you already have to have the required DiVX/Xvid codecs installed.

    regards, Stephen

pS: excellent places if you have such a need are www.vcdhelp.com and www.doom9.org both places have very good guides and tutorials about video edition, what to do and what tools to use.
