Well i often wondered about Canada, ive heard good things and bad things that i dont wish to discuss, but the good outwight the bad from my readings around the world wide web

So, any canadians here want to share their view of their country?
I am looking for a place to visit, and or move to, not in the near future, but eventually....sick of us laws mainly, not an outlaw by any means, just want more freedom to do what i want, no is not about piracy :P
only an idiot would jump coubtries just so he could pirate

So anyways, hows canada to live inn?
    hows the fishing?
hows the import tuner scene there?
    how are the school system?
    hows crime?
do you boys and girls have high speed internet comparable to the us?
hows the weather in summer and in winter?
    how is the economy?

and what ever else you may want to throw inthere :P
i could go on and research most of these, matter of fact i have on some, but nothing beats the personal experience of others than news websites and or tourist sites.

Thanks for any info you may provide.
And please keep this serious conversation, theres other posts to do that if you want :P

    Thanks again

    Well here it is :
    Winter lasts 11 months.
    We all live in Iglooos.
    The summer lasts one week.
    because of spring and fall.
And summer is our heavy-rain season.
Internet is a rare thing here... we have to go down to the village on horses and there is a small market where we can get access to that thing you call internet. It is a big orange box, we put quarters in and the horse starts pulling a wheel that activates the thing you call internet. The speed of the internet depends on how much you feed the horse.
As for the school sytems here everyone is home-schooled because it is too hard to get to the schools during bad weather. There is a municipal building in which we can go study but it is closed during winter and winter lasts 11 months.
As for fishing, it is a lot of fun because we have to compete with the polar bears to get to the fish first. Sometimes we will use axes to cut holes through the ice to get to the fish before the bears do.
As for the Economy. The fur trading business is going pretty well even though some people are starting to harrass us about killing animals to use their fur. But, you know, we have to keep warm any way possible.
And finally crime: The crime as been very low since the new sheriff patt garett came to town. He said he would clean the town and make it a better place to live. Well that, he did because we have not seen billy the kid around town since pat came to help us.

Alright I have to go now because my horse is getting tired and my orange machine will stop working any minute now... See ya in a month when I manage to come back to the market and get on that thing you call internet again. Good riddance

hey Alex just want to give my thoughts on Canada see that the smart a** above did nothing of the sort. From what I saw the people are friendly, I'm sure internet is comparable to ours. driving in winter wasn't as bad as you would think, came down from Alaska in the first week of January. I sure wouldn't mind going back to visit, I've also thought about moving there

Well I had luck good or bad to be born in Canada!

I can't answer about school since all my school years and univ. were done in the states!

As for summer in Canada it lasts like two months in most parts and stays either hot and humid or on the cool side the rest is either dead cold winter or bad spring day depending on where you hat your hat!

Crime is little less then the states but sadly our big cities like Toronto and vancouver have all the bad stuff gangs drugs murders etc!

Our health care is free but you die in the waiting list or gave to travel to big city or even the states if major stuff!

Internet is great in fact Canucks spent more time on the net them anyother nation in the world, well life sucks here so we need to socialize out to others, in the big cities Internet speed is up to 100meg but pricing is going to change soon as ISPs what to charge here by the megabyte since Canada is also rated by the world lobby groups as the biggest pirates also, which is said as that not true!

Well not sure if I answered all your questions but ask away, but to tell the truth I ran away and hanging out in a warm tropical island of mine instead!

thanks for the replies, and i apoloogize if i offended anyone about something, it was not my intentions, and still aint, i just want to find out from you guys whats like to live there.

anyways, wow didnt know you had short summers, tho i dont mind the cold, my wife might lol

most important for me, is the school system and fishing
health care is a plus for it to be free, but i guess like you said gary, it comes at a price regardless.

i dont know what else to ask, tho i just woke up lol

    thanks

Alex, the weather is a same in southern Canada and as the northern part of the U.S.
    The school system is equal.
Taxes are higher to pay for health care(which has long waiting times). No Canadian has ever lost their house or went bankrupt from medical bills.
The lobbists and businesses are not allowed to make donations to politicians.
The economy is strong.Besides the auto manufacturers,Canada didn't feel the last recession.
Fishing is good in some parts.
Violence is getting bad in the big cities.
We are allowed to order weed seeds and get them shipped through the mail.We can discretly grow a few plants for personal use and the police don't seem to mind.
We are taxed extra on blank CD/DVDs and MP3 players. This money goes to film and recording artists and studios. Some others countries call it piracy,I don't.
As with any country, you take the good with the bad.

vancouver would probably be best for import tuners. the fishing in alberta is good, not sure about anywhere else (i dont travel much)

alberta and bc are great if you like winter related stuff like snowmobiling and skiing/snowboarding because of the terrain.
alberta weather is extremely sporadic though. the cliche of "if you dont like the weather, wait 15 minutes" gets used a lot. its really hot here today and everything is melting but it snowed yesterday lol

the internet is good (not quite as fast as the states i think but it should be close) as long as you live in an urban area, if you're out in the countryside you might be S.O.L though.

All in all I'd say canada is a pretty sweet place to live and I'd be willing to recommend it to anyone that doesn't mind winter. if you hate snow you'll probably hate living here though

Thanks opium, your nick just gave me an idea

yeah ive talked to my wife, shes not to thrilled about it, but she wouldnt mind visiting first and checking it out.

am a little torn tho, in one hand i dont mind the cold and everything ive heard from people here and online sounds good to me
but in the otherhand the long winters scares me due to one reason...my cars
i dont think i could live without modding my cars and enjoying them

all the answers are appreciated, thank you very much for taking the time.
