I just wanted to start a thread to share how fast each other's internet is and how much they pay. It'll be a nice way to compare and maybe help some of us realize how much they're getting ripped off maybe.

    -Promised down/up speed:
    -Actual down/up speed:
    (speedtest.net)
    -Price:
    -ISP:

    -Down: 1mbps/ Up: 512 kbps
    -1661959150.png
But I usally max out at 79kb/s Down and 31 kb/s Up
    -$20/month
    -AT&T

Slower then 93% of America That's crazy. I have slow internet

It's Cox on the "preferred" package - supposed to be 12mbps downstream (15mbps with "powerboost") & 5mbps up. My cable modem is liberated (hacked!) resulting in my speeds posted above! I pay about $40US/mo for internet as part of a bundle (tv, phone, internet, etc). On a good test, i've seen over 100mbps down and near 20mbps up.... On a different note, my Verizon cell phone gets 13mbps down and 4mbps up on 4g LTE... lol?

Thanks for sharing this. My Internet does not look that good compared to some of these others. Comcast wants to charge me about $50 a month for this service. I have the Performance package, which states "Downloads up to 6Mbps, uploads up to 1Mbps.", so that is pretty close.

Damn, for $5 more a month, I could upgrade to their Blast package, which states "Downloads up to 30 Mbps, uploads up to 6 Mbps with PowerBoostŪ", which could be really nice. Or perhaps I should just look into liberating my modem

Id be very interested in this "liberating" process.

Im paying for a theortical max of 20mb down, 2mbs up

    But i am promised

    Down: 10mb Up: 1mbs

As you can see, its 1/3 of the promised speed and im very disapointed.

    paying $90/m for 200GB.

If anyone know how to "liberate" adsl modems, do let me know.
    Cheers,

I feel like I'm really getting ripped off on my internet:/ Its about to be 2 years with the same plan. Maybe its because I haven't changed it. And you know how technologically grows real fast. Any of you know where I could find plans and prices for AT&T?
And what's is "liberate" I've never heard of that.

lol! "liberate" is just my fancy way of saying i freed it of its limitations... essentially, the providers (comcast, cox, timewarner, at&t, etc) impose a max bandwidth limitation per channel. i simply removed it (through the process of custom firmware flashed to my modem!). unfortunately, dsl communications dont fall into the same category. you're limited by what the copper in the ground leading up to your home can sustain. dsl just plain sucks! even satellite based broadband is faster (directv, u-verse), but with weather dependencies. my main purpose in hacking my cable modem was to unleash its speed potential, but an added bonus was being able to spoof the cable modem's mac address. by doing so, it pretty much means that nobody can trace me - no other hacker, no mpaa, no sony! did i just admit to doing illegal internet activity? NOPE! heh
