Help!!!! My Imac!!!! Repair?!!!

OK, my brother would always use my imac, and whenever the damn thing froze or did something he didn't like, he would slam it on the right side of the imac.. well this time it didn't end so well... he slammed it while teh computer was on, and near the rear on the right side of the imac, their was a spark, and the monitor turned BLACK, while the comptuer was still running! so i unplugged the power to it, and now i am afraid to turn it on.. i am afraid it will blow up or something... PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

What are you running?

I find 10.2 to be very stable, Haven't seen it freeze even once yet!

Hmm sounds like he might have shorted out a wire going to the Monitor

What kind of iMac is this? 1st gen? FP style?

I hope you have apple care, They will fix almost anything. I once was screwin around with my iMac (installing a new HDD) and I removed the CD rom drive and somehow I ended up spilling some coke on it. Anyway after that it didn't work right. ( never booted CD's properly, would get jamed up etc... ) I gave apple a call explained the problem and then they gave me a address to my nearest authorized Apple service center. They fixed the iMac within 3 days with no charge to me

My suggestion to you if you haven't already done so. Buy Apple care!

that sounds like it... umm i have os 9 and it's erally unstable... i am afraid to take it to an applecare, because it has **** and roms and other illegal shit i don't want them to know about.. is it safe to take it apart and replace teh hardrive with one from another computer and then send it in? or could i even just take out the hardrive before i give it to them? or even better, can anyone here repair it? is it a job a dumbass can do? (me)

talked to a friend of mine, his dad fixes MACS for a living, and he told me its prob just a shorted out AV board. Audio/Video, and it will cost a couple hundred to replace, but i should turn it on anyways to see if it needs to be replaced, and IT WORKS!!! sorry for making a forum about my imac when it's really not broken...
