Well today I'm going to try putting my name in the credits of Dave Mirra 2. I already have the editing done, I just need to pull my hdd out of my ps2 and put it in my pc to put it back on that. I used hdloader to get the image on my ps2, hdl_dump to get it on my pc, isobuster to get the files out of the iso, and CDGenPS2 to put all the files back into an iso. If it works I'm going to try this some more on the THPS games.
What you're asking might be possible, but I can't help you there.
Nope, not possible. Games are made to be read from sectors on the disc, not files. Unless they are the same filesize, which may not even matter, the replacement files will not take.
Also, s00pcan, your idea might not work due to many factors. But its worth a try.
Well since I can burn a cd I make and play it on my ps2, I'm pretty sure my idea will work if you make the iso correctly, and that my ps2 can read files from a disk. I'm going to try my hack right now and I'll get back to you.
Ok hdd is connected to pc, transfering the game now. Btw, I'm definatly not the first to do this, the reason I'm trying is because THUG has already been hacked to allow people to access extra levels from thps1 and 2 left on the cd.
Got a black screen when I tried to load it from hdloader. Meh, maybe someone else knows what I'm missing.. or if it just doesn't work from hdloader that easily.

did you read my post?
Yeah I did, and then I disregarded it because I would rather try and fail than not try at all, especially when I know it's possible.

While its not feasible to do what you said for ffx, there is a huge Winning Eleven editing community. The have translated the game to english and replaced practically all the media - music, fx, kits, balls, stadiums etc.
1. hacking games isnt homebrew. dont know why this thread is in here.
2. every developer creates their own makeshift formats. its impossible to have a universal way to hack ps2 games. No legit homebrew devr would waste his time reversing work just to figure out how you can change characters in a game.
3. hacking the credits is lame. you didnt make the game so dont add your name to it.
4. hacking games isnt homebrew. dont know why this thread is in here.
