Hmmm, still no perfect Video/Audio Changer! I am looking for DVD player that suit my demands, but still no one has it; they are some but they think it has gold inside the machine! The perfect DVD Changer (at least) is one with good Audio\Video Digital-Analog Converters, built in Dolby Digital and DTS decoders, that support formats like SACD, DVD-A, and if I want to burn a DVD?R? CDR? that it can be useful, zoom function, and at least a 5 disc changer for music.

There is an issue between which format and which next generation of Video-Audio (optical) technologies are actually going to lead to the market. Lets hope it come true sooner than expected, I do not want to feel cheated, like the poor playback of the PS2 with DVD technology!

You can read more about this including a HD format at:

Hmmm, ThAD0oD you will feel like me when you follow this!

    SACD= Super Audio CD

    DVD-A= DVD-Audio

SACD and DVD-A support up to six high definition audio channels, DVD-A support better pulse code MODULATION sampling sizes and higher audio/data rates at 192-kHz/24-bits/9.6 Mbps. SACD 100-kHz/24-bits/2.8 Mbps. Also both support still pictures and text if I am right, useless to me, I just want to hear the music better than CD.

Those two formats are out there right now, but like me, and I assume a lot of other people too wants just one format, and backwards compatibility with the current DVD technology; so we do not feel cheated! Sony will only support the SACD format and others companies only support DVD-A, for the moment, but they are a few that support both formats, but again not everyone has a CHANGER displaying the time just like CD Changers and Random Play so I can enjoy the music too! (hmmm, I do not like missing cards in my pack)

Prepositions by the industry for the next generation of Optical Technology:
    - Sony and Philips, the Blu-Ray DVD format backed by many other leading electronic companies.

    - Toshiba and NEC, the Blue Laser DVD format.

    - Warner Bros, High Definition DVD-9, new compression methods on the recent DVD technology of Red Eye Lasers.

My suggestion GET IT TOGETHER, so I can enjoy my DVDs and Digital music without any worries my friend!

I strongly suggest to read more in these pages:

Hmmm, hope that my knowledge is right this time...

i did abit of reading on dvd-a, still, for the price i really don't think it's worth it at the mo. Also, the only things they're putting on dvd-a are the three tenors and stuff like that. Nothing too current. I'm iffy to whether it'll take off, might just be the next laser disc.

No ThAD0oD my friend, is more than a music format, that is just an old battle... (hmmm, not doing your reading!) between companies like Toshiba that they were part of the development of the DVD-Audio Format but on the other side of the game Sony and Phillips own a patent in the CD Format so that is the reason why other companies back Sony and Phillips on their development of the next generation of Optical Technology ($$$), by the way Sony\Phillips were part of the SACD format. And the same "vicious circle" may continue with the next generation of formats because of the patent that they own. And I just want to play the right cards, maybe is too early to make my move!

Hmmm, who knows the "PS3" may have a format like HD-DVD, by the 2005 the next generation should be there...

That is right Elucifer, remember "nothing stay the same while the Day and Night pass away"!

By the way what Elucifer means, if it can be tell?

  8. #8 Hmmm! another technology anounced...

News by SANYO Japan on 1/21/03

About the development of the high output purple-blue semiconductor laser and production start-up...

Recently, in field of optical disk system technology, the development of the next generation mass optical disk system which 2 hours or more can be videotaped from a digital high-definition image. In order to actualize this new technology, is necessary that the purple-blue laser wave length is shorter than the recent (old fashion) red laser used by DVD technology as the light source in order to read out the signal on the optical disk. In the future it is expected to be in demand quickly with the expansion of the next generation mass optical disk system.

The origin of this kind of background at our company, the purple-blue (violet) optic laser with output of 5mW, was developed in March of last year as an object for playback of the next generation mass optical disk, recently the sample shipment is finished. This time, by the fact that 35mW of high outputs, which corresponds also to record playback, it became correspondence possible in various needs of the next generation mass optical disk system to be developed. In the future you aim toward further high output conversion, which will not further development from now on aiming at the further raise in an output, either.

With this new technology an investment of a total of 10 billion Yen by the year 2005 will be done upon the latest development, by then the advanced optical device business which begins the purple-blue semiconductor laser, is prepared for the production aiming toward the year 2006 with sales around 15 billion Yen as a purple-blue laser-related business.

    cool

10 billion yen = less than 80$ million USD btw... doesnt seem that much for the 'next generation' media.... then again it does....

Metallica released a couple of album on DVD-A last time I checked.
