This is kinda off topic, but is the gamecube worth gettin? I'm gettin tired of my ps2 and want something new. What games are good for it also.
get an Xbox... I know people say that gamecube is for kids and all but trust me its not. But if you want something different, I would suggest a Xbox over gamecube any day.
go get an xbox. while the gamecube is hardly the kiddie toy so many people claim it is, it's really lacking in variety in terms of software, as well as big name licenses. most good gamecube games are also on the ps2 or xbox. unless you're just dying to play stuff like final fantasy crystal chronicles, it's not worth it.
not to mention the obvious factor that theres no chip or anything for the gamecube. and for those of you who say "but someone will do something soon!" i was seeing statements just like that a month after the gamecube launch.
If you want original and unique games you should really get a cube. Games such as Zelda, F-zero and Viewtiful Joe simply cannot be matched by anything similar on other consoles.
Xbox really doesn't have many good games at all and you should only buy one if you want a good divx box or MAME box. Nearly all of the good games are already on PS2 and better on PS2 than Xbox in terms of gameplay.
In regards to a chip for the cube....there are ways to both rip the games and also play them back...it is just not publically known at this stage.
I own a xbox, ps2 and a gamecube. And to be honest i play more on the cube then on the ps2 and xbox combined.
Xbox is only worth getting if you want to play divx or emu's. The gamecube has so much origional games with a playability factor far above any game from the other 2 consoles.
But this is only my opinion so you have to decide for yourself.
BTW the cube is now $99/?99 so it isn't that much money anyway
and that "not publically known" means absolutely nothing. theres no point in a non public method to boot backups, theres no proof of such a method, after all this time no one who might have figured something out and not kept it to themselves would have gotten it, so afetr all that, booting backups on a game cube is bullshit.
sure, you can read the games in a computer, burn 'em to dvd-r media, and i recall that there was something that may have worked on a panasonic q, but who the hell wants to pay $500+ to import one of those from japan when a gamecube is only $100
and even tho the original poster realizes that this thread is "off topic", he doesnt post it there...
No, it simply means that the people who currently know how to do it don't want to give it to leechers like you who just want to pirate every game and give nothing back. There are already many homebrew titles you can use and emulation on PC but releasing information on how to play retail games will only start piracy which the Gamecube doesn't need with its unstable place in the market already. The Dreamcast was killed in the same way and many of the people working on GC we there then and don't want to see the same thing happen.
Now, please move this to offtopic.
so in other words, it's still bullshit.
i just want to know if anyone can view a Gamecube files in there DVD drive, alot of people me it freeze if they try to see the files
get a cube. Xbox has halo and that is on the pc now
