Looks like the player known as Steven Gerrard who has been carrying your team this whole time is leaving!!!

Even Gerrard aint stupid, he seen how lucky you's where to win the CL and relised how crap liverpool where in the Premiership, and he seen the writing on the wall!!!

Actually what I disliked was that UEFA let Liverpool join the CL eventhough they were just 5th in the Premiership. This is not sport anymore but politics (dirty one) and bussines. Gerrard wanted to leave almost one year ago, no wonder he is leaving now but I suppose he just wants to get some more cash. Phew, few weeks ago the MU story, now it's Liverpool, who's the next ?

Yeah liverpool do NOT deserve to be in the champions league next time around and i will explain now and DARE anyone to disprove or challange me on this...

The champions league is a competition made up of all the leagues winners plus 2 runners up ( sometimes 3 like the premiership)

You need to finish in that catagory to qualify for next seasons CL.

NO-WHERE does it say if you win it you get the right to enter the champions league the next time round as its for each domestic leagues champions + runners up NOT the previous winners!

Put it this way, if you win the World cup, but the next time round do not qualify do you auto-matically get in? HELL NO, you have to qualify, just like the CL!

I posted my thoughts elsewhere so I'll just quote it.

I hate his stupid agent. The guy will make a killing off the transfer and it's all he's really out for. And I'm really disappointed in SG. He'd making a complete U-turn on his statement that he would stay with Liverpool. The worst part is that the next best captain candidate would be Jamie Carragher, who I also have respect for. But he is represented by the same agent. I don't know what will become of JC and after seeing SG do an about face, I'm preparing for the worst

Yup got the 2 of yous mixed up there was a bust up between the manager and Steven Gerrard, so that was supposed to be the icing on the cake!

I CANNOT wait for the new sesson to start, its going to be excellent!

I am sad to see Gerrard go but one player does not make a team. He turned down 100k Euro a week that Liverpool offered him. That shows a lot more greed than I thought he had. He will be going where money calls but whether it is to be Chelsea or Milan, nobody is sure yet. I believe that Chelsea said they wouldn't offer more than 80k Euros/week while Milan said they would go to 120k Euros/ week. This is of course not including the transfer fee. If Liverpool can get 30mil for the fee, I have faith in Benitez to use it wisely else where. With Alonso as the core of the midfield, and a new purchase or two Liverpool could be in the position to contend. I'm glad we aren't going after overpriced English talent and throwing money away simply because they are English as well. Benitiez seems to be a smart spender in the Spanish market as he knows it the best. I'd guess we might see a role player Spaniard soon but no superstar. The new season should be excellent as you said.

Well said mate, but look what those English talents can do abroad. Look how badly Backhem or Owen played in Real. I personally do not like the way Arsenal is doing for example, is there anyone from England there, or all are French now ? For me sport always has been fun, but it went the wrong way many years ago when those sponsors and managers wanted to earn too much money. Now every season has to have a record in sales and none of the teams cares about anything but money. (as Chelsea (looks as the worst one) MU, Real Madrid, Milan for example)

I would really hope he does cause i would like to see him stay at liverpool as i would want the side that won the CL to crash out of it this time round!
