  1. #1 fix a monitor?
    mrpowerbook345 Guest
ok, my friend just gave me this monitor he found at the dump.. he said that its easy to fix, and that i need to resolder some contacts. now even tho i kno the voltage these things carry, without thinking i turn it on to see if it is useable or not. so the screen gives me a dull faded greenish kind of water and oily look. wonderful... now how long does it take for the elec. to leave, and what precautions should i take? i kno that if i opened it right now and did the wrong thing i could easily kill myself.. any suggestions?

Please, Please...Nobody reply to this guy. For those of you who don't know...he owes me a simple little game, and refuses to give it to me..He said he had a "good reason" and I told him to tell me it...and of course it must have not been good enough for him to tell me...
    He's a R!pper...

easy. all you gotta do is take a 22 guage wire and wrap it around a large flathead screwdriver. ground the other end. then shove the end of the screwdriver up under the rubber anode cap on top of the picture tube. that will discharge the electricity. otherwise a crt can hold a charge for months.

however, there's a good chance you'll end up killing yourself in the process trying to discharge a few thousand volts with a screwdriver, which personally i think would be hilarious since you're an ass always begging for help and asking questions, even though everyone here knows you rip people off.

seriously man when will you send the damn game. The shipping's prob more expensive now than the game itself.

I strongly suggest you being VERY careful while playing in any kind of monitors. You could easily kill yourself even with a monitor that was stored for a decade. Go read on the subject on the net before attending anything with it.

a decade's going a bit far and is more of a myth but they can hold charge for quite a while and we are not talking small voltage here .
