I want to transfer some 'files' with my bro who is going to college currently. I tried to setup an ftp with him but i couldnt seem to get it to work. I am in DMZ and my bro has dhcp and cant forward any ports. I was wondering if there were any alternatives. All help appreciated!

well since he goes to college and i assume he is on a EDU line, a lot of people take advantage of those, so they might be blocking port 21 (default FTP port) try setting up your ftp server on a different port for your bro to connect to.

does not matter what port is sometimes
i run an ftp and some colleges works block the type of transfer not the port

blocked it on port 21, 1982, 2182, 22122 and it is not a fire wall that has them blocked becuase other things we coudl set up on those ports
Remember no matter how much you like a girl and think she is perfect always think
someone somewhere is tired of her shit!

Procrastination is like masturbation. It feels good at the time, but in the end you are only ****ing yourself.

have you set up an ftp server on a high port then connect to it using passive mode

since you are the DMZ are the additional restrictions imposed on you? you may be only allowed to make / recieve connecitons on specific ports :\

I've already tried it on different ports, none worked. I have tried connecting using passive mode on a high port and that didnt work either. Also, im not restricted at all on my internet. An FTP would be the best to use but if i could get mirc going that would be ok too.

it doesn't really make a difference which program you use... you just have to find a port which gets forwarded to his computer.. or use passive mode.

are there any other services that work on his computer? (kazaa etc, ) if so, you can close down that program, and open up a server on that port.
