i live in the ideal place to be able to pickup many wireless networks. i have a wireless G linksys card and i have seen upgradeable antennas that would improve my range. i am looking for a cheaper solution. i want to somehow build a bigger antenna and either have it in my room or mounted ontop of the sunroom in my house (right infront of my bedroom window). i have seen "cantennas" online, using a pringles or coffee can to boost signal, and i am thinking of constructing this. is it possible to find some other way to construct an antena and connect it to my wireless card? this should be something that many people have thought about, but its hard to find specefic info on this subject. if anyone has suggestions or can link to tutorials on constructing powerful antennas id really like to see them. theoretically how powerful can they get when constructed with home materials? any products that are similar to this i could buy and use for this purpose? i live ontop of a huge hill and many houses arround me have wifi. the antenna that i would construct or buy would have to be compatible with the 2.4ghz G frequency.

thanks to all that can provide advice, and if anyone is interested, i am thinking of selling cable internet service to my neighbors by building these devices for people so they can connect to my router from far away, and to network with friend's near by computers and share files and home vids with each other.

    thanks again

I Saw one online that used an old radiator out of a rice burner that they picked up out of a junk yard, it was pretty cool and supposidly worked really good

I doubt that selling your cable connection and distributing video and music is considered legal.

i said home videos. a couple of my friends make halo modding and halo lan party vids, it would be cool to have them on a shared network. and as for selling internet connection, i'm not sure what the legalities are, but i did see a few comercial and legitimate websites that advertised comercial strength wireless routers and stuff just for that purpose (yes selling and profiting from sharing internet). and i never said music. i'm not asking for ps2 game isos, just information on how to make a wireless card stronger.it has the potential to be used illegally in many different ways, but anything has the potential to be used wrong, and i am making it very clear what my intentions are
