I put a body kit on my saturn a while back. It's the ugly ass gold/ tan color so I wanted to get it painted. I don't give a crap if it's "SHOWROOM QUALITY!" I just want the damn thing painted, look decent, and decently priced.
So, I get the body kit in the midst of winter. I was talking to this boy with a nice eclipse (said him and his dad painted it), and said he'd help me fix my car up once I got the kit on. He was going to paint my car for a great price. Told me to either wait til warm weather, or find a heated garage.
So, I know someone with a heated garage, try to get the boy to do it, and he never calls me back. He didn't seem reliable anyways so I said forget him...Then, I talk to another boy who has an awesome neon. He tells me his bro painted it, shows me another car his bro painted, and I talk to his bro. Again, very nice price, I actually get to see his work, but he backs out of it! Going to truck driving school, and said he doesn't have time now, etc, etc.
Then, I check around more, and people are lazy, and charge way to much. Lord....My car is *TINY*. I'll pay over a grand the day I want a hummer painted, and pay over 2 grand when I want a damn RV painted...but geez.
There not even garages. Individual people without any showing of there work wanting to charge a grand. There's no guarantee with them, and who knows how long they'll take. People just want big $ for doing little work.
So, I've heard bad about Earl Scheib, and have heard good. Just wondering if it's worth taking the chance on them? They do offer a warranty, but I guess if they do a crappy job to begin with...Probably aren't going to do much better once I bring it back to them to redo (unless I go to a different location maybe).
