Dru-500a Problem
Dru-500a Problem –

My DVD Burner (DRU-500A) does not recognize blank DVDs in Windows anymore. In My Computer, a blank DVD+R shows up as having 648 MB free space, and a blank DVD+RW shows up as having 1.99 GB Used Space. I have tried to erase this DVD, but My Computer still says it has something on it. Programs like RecordNow (which came with the burner) show the DVD's proper space, but they will not burn past what Windows tells them they can (i.e. 648 MB). I have uninstalled all programs since my DVD burner last burned a DVD and tried changing the ASPI drivers, but nothing works. Original DVDs are properly recognized by the drive. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

This would probably work unless its actually a hardware problem, do a "system restore" start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore, this isn't really specific to you problem but works as a last resort cure all when you don't want to do a complete reinstall of windows.. Just make sure you pick a restore date that is Before when the problem appeared, and save to cd any programs or downloads that you got after that restore date you're going to use, since your pc will have only what you had on it at the time of the restore point when your done..

My Computer -> Properties -> File System:
blank DVD+RW = CDFS
blank DVD+R = CDBLANK
Orig. DVD = UDF
80 Min blank CD = CDBLANK (still 648 MB free; shows up the same in my lite-on 48x)
I know that's not right. Any ideas? The only thing I can think of even remotely affecting these that I installed recently was CloneCD. Its been uninstalled since then. Thanks
BTW, I didn't install the system restore option when I installed windows... this stuff always comes back to bite me in the ass later on... Thanks anyway
