I was having some problems with medicine, and seeing if anybody could give me some advice.
Most of my life I've had health problems so I've been on LOTS of medications (things to bring me up, and things to put me down). Before, I just was immuned to anything...Nothing would really pick me up, and nothing could really put me to sleep. Well, for some reason my bodies changed, and now, almost like it happened over night everything effects me a great deal.
The ONLY thing that has changed though...I had a sinus infection for a long time I'm guessing. My sinuses woudl drain so much I'd wake up in the mornings and throw up no matter what. This went on for at least 2 years if not more so I'm thinking I had the infection for a while, or at least had problems I didn't know about since I was a kid.
About a month ago I figured out the problem finally, and got it solved. Seems like since then though like I said, EVERYTHING effects me! I'll notice the slightest change in my body.
Like, since I had sinus problems..I have stuff for it prescription wise, but I didn't like some of the stuff so I decided to go over the counter, and get stuff (there's lots of stuff). I've tried at least 3 or 4 things, and they all effected me soooo much. Some sinus and headache medicine I was on jacked me up a lot, and I couldn't sleep (that's common in sinus medications though). So, thought i'd just get something to put me to sleep, or maybe use a combo of both, and seriously by the next day I'll feel depressed to no end! I don't even need a reason...I'll just feel depressed. Like I'll get paranoid, and think crazy shit that normal people wouldn't be thinking.
Then, I thought maybe it's just something in sinus medication that don't agree with me...So, to help me sleep I've taken things like Tylenol PM, Sleep-aids, etc. Same shit happens! Wake up, before I know it I feel like somebody kicked my ass.
I don't think I've ever felt depressed one bit if I haven't taken a downer the night before, or that same day. So, can anybody tell me why it is I feel like this, and never have before? I do exercise a lot, and I use it to help relieve my stress...My dad seems to think that basically my body is in good shape SO if I take the slightest thing I can notice because I know how my body is suppose to feel more than most people.
I already know if I don't exercise I'll get agitated, but I've been doing enough lately. If I take any pills that are uppers I'll feel incredibly great..Guess I just need energy to feel good. Just wondering if anybody had any insight on why I feel like this, or what to do.
For now though I'd rather die than to take any downer.

No..I don't take that many pills. Like, I take claritin for my sinuses (these are made to dry up my sinuses, and don't effect me to much), I take Prilosec for acid reflux (these don't effect me at all), and I just started taking Vivarin to give me energy. I don't really need it all that much, but it helps. Basically, The claritins do dry up my sinuses, but I still get sinus headaches a little bit, and if I take other sinus medications (some of them) it seems to get rid of it.
Most sinus day time medications contain basically speed...People with sinus problems get tired so not only do they put the stuff to fix up your sinuses, but shit to make you jacked. Of course I'm taking those vivarin anyways, but I can actually sleep on them..I can't sleep on most sinus medicines. So, I thought if I got something to sleep on it'd be better. I use to take benadryl cuz they dry up my sinuses over night even more, and they do work! But I get depressed whenever I take em.

The chemical in sleep aids is Diphenhydramine and it makes everyone feel groggy the next morning/afternoon especially if taken in large doses. Taking any kind of pill is not really good... later in life you might get some kind of serious illiness like kidney failure and youll wonder why. Why do you need these uppers ? i thought your some big muscle head that works out for 5 hours a day ? maybe your working out to much..

Well...I don't workout like 5 hours a day...Max is like 3 if I actually feel great. Basically, I had the sinus infection, and it kind of slowed me down cuz I was so tired, and sick. I was sick for a while, but worked through it. I got rid of my sinus infection, felt AWESOME like I never have before, and then started doing a lot again. I really don't have to have uppers...Sometimes I wake up, and I'm tired, and other times I wake up with energy (just depends). I just had problems with my pills, and never figured it was the downers that were making me feel so badly until like last weekend. I kept on taking those benadryls which do make you tired, and a bit groggy when you get up..Then, I'd feel depressed, and like shit so I couldn't workout, and I took an upper. Now that I got my problems figured out I don't have to take it really..
Anyways though, I was just wondering why the downers would make me so...Umm...Down? LOL...Maybe I answered my own question kinda. It's just before they wouldn't effect me, and I cannot understand why they effect me so badly now. I had some kind of Tylenol NightTime sinus the other day. It says right on the box for people over 12 yrs old you can take up to 8! I took 2, and they effected me a great deal...Children can take up to 4, and I guess be okay. Soooo, my body suddenly went retarded, or it decided it didn't want any sleepy pills what so ever. It's not that I'm a drug head addicted to either uppers or downers...I wouldn't take anything if I didn't have to, but I need to find another sinus medication, and I don't really want either a upper (won't be able to sleep), or a downer (feel depressed). I could just go see the doctor, BUT doctors dunno what your body will agree with/ not agree with. I can just goto the store, and buy some sinus pills, and do a hit n miss operation like doctors do.

Dude, now I know why you were always so edgy in the past...too jacked up on antihistamins! Those things can really jack you up pretty bad. They used to put give me those @#$# cortizone injections when I was in school. That was rough.

Probably, your metabolism is starting to slope off, so the drugs affect you more now. I used to never be affected by Benadryl either, until I hit about 20 and they started knocking me out so I switched to plain old Psuedophed to open up my head each morning--but that can jack up your blood pressure if you take too much. It's a tough call. I've found some Bromphen/Psuedophed combos work pretty good. I don't know a name brand for OTC, but you can check the label ingredients--it might be a generic version in the Dimetapp line I've been taking. It works well for my daughter too. They put her on a prescription strength version with cough suppressant once--think it was called Bromphemex or something like that. (damn generic labels).

For maintenance, they put my daughter on Zirtec nightly. It seems to do the trick. If she's having a really hard time with it, I'll switch her to Claritin in the mornings and give her Benadryl at night.

It's always a good idea to switch up your meds periodically, or try to go without for a few days to sort of flush the system. Eventually you build up a tolerance for any drug if you take it long enough--especially with antihistamines.

    Good Luck dude!

If it ain't broke don't try to fix it! But, hell if you can tweak that bastard just a little bit more....hehehe.

For some time I had a problem with my sinuses simmilar to yours Primenal. My sinuses would become clogged, resulting in infeciton. I was constatly on anti-biotics to fight the infection. Over a year or two I needed to change between amoxicillin and doxycycline in varying doses along with a Clarinase every morning(very expensive!) before surgery was recommended to correct my nose.

Something which became part of my daily routine which helped significantly was practicing a salt water tequique which has been used in Yoga for thousands of years. Traditionally you would practice it on the sea shore or other relaxing location but in the new millenium i practice it in the bathroom before work
Prepare a warm (not hot) mixture of salt water, then using one hand, block off one nostil then with your other cup some water into your hand and draw the fresh salt water into your sinuses. Expel the liquid via your mouth. Repeat this two or three times, then switch nostrils. The salt water is very effective in cleansing the whole nasal system.

It may sound disgusting, and it feels odd at first, but you get used to it, and is a beneficial non-drug alternative.

All the best, i know how bad it feels to wake up feeling like shit every morning.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I did quit taking the vivarin for energy..Don't need it all that bad. Then, I thought HEY! I'm normal! and suddenly in no freakin time I snap again. I sure as heck hope this isn't my normal state cuz I can't control myself. I DO take those claritins to dry my sinuses up, and have for like a month (felt depressed pretty much everyday since, or crazy). So, I'm suppose to really take those, but starting tomorrow I'm going to quit for a few days, and see if I'll be normal. I got so angry I got mad at the girl I've been working for (I sort of have reasons), and I just got so mad...I couldn't even wait til tomorrow to tell her off. I sent her an email telling her off! Worst part is I was planning to lay the moves on her in a couple days whenever I was gonna get her to stay with me, and I was so mad I didn't even care. I still don't right now either! I can't control my mind..It's pretty scary. Well, guess I needed to tell her off though about some stuff, and I will not regret it even when I'm in the right state of my mind (I'm hoping LOL). Right now..The only thing I want is to find out what's making me so crazy. This girl gives me the reason to be crazy, and whatever it is I'm taking, or whatever is wrong with me is feeding off of that. Not a good combination. So, I need to get rid of something, or both. Way I see it is if I get rid of her I'll still feel badly, and won't feel like finding anybody else, etc. At least if I get rid of my problem things should go better with her, and even if they do not at least I'll have the motivaton to tell her to F Off! Then, find another girl.
