I'm a father, and in the penguin world (at least for emperor and king penguins) the father is the one that raises the yung, they'll sit on thier egg from the moment it's layed untill it hatches (i think it take somewhere around 1.5 to 2 months for it to hatch) the weather can get to be 50 degrees below zero or more and they'll still stick it out just to keep that egge warm (if they leave it it could die within a matter of moments) they don't even eat the entire time they stay with the egg. when it hatches the mother comes back for a short while (like a day or so) so the father can go and eat, as you can imagine they'd be pretty hungry by then. after the baby hatches the father is still the primary caregiver for the little penguin, keeping it warm. again if the baby is to be out in the cold it could die within moments.
I find all this very admirable
I HATE metaphorical rain.
