Do you beleive in God...

Alright, was talking with someone the other day who is a strong non-beleiver in god...He couldn't answer to many questions though, but I was wondering how many of you actually beleive in a god?
I'm not talking about the God in the bible either...I mean a god in any shape or form (a higher power).
There will be no FLAMING in this topic as with some people religion is a topic that they get angry at...We will accept eachothers opinions ;) (As stupid as you may think they might be), and give an explanation as to why you think there is/ isn't a god.

I'll start off..I beleive in God.
The reason for this is everything is to perfectly in-line in this world for there not being someone who made it that way...
Trees for you to breath oxygen
Trees for homes
Even down to little flies which dispose of waste in the world (natures garbagemen)
PLUS, someone had to create human, and everything here...A God is a originator of something new....So, whoever created us, this world, universe, or whatever would be OUR God....

BTW: I do admit that I beleive strongly in God, but i do not beleive everything the bible says...I have a pretty open mind/ imagination, but some of the stories, and things in the bible sound like utter BS to me...I do think that it's good to have the rules though (most of them are logical that we shouldn't do them), and at least it's something for some people to turn to w/o having to turn to drugs, or alcohol, or anything like that :).

yeah, its true im a church boy, im at church EVERY sunday in jeans and dirty t-shirt (u must see im catholic)
i believe in god
he makes my world balance (there are not that many of me out there)
i always volenteering at Church (they outta give me a job there)
i been going to the same church for the last 16 years
i went to St. John Berchmans for 10 years and want to become a priest (i was goin to go to Quigly North)
i Went to St. Benedict HS my freshman year and learn thats im a huge slut (i love Jen)

God keeps me sane sometimes (crack open the Bible and have arguemnts with the priest at my church that the 32 book of revlations does exist)
i dont drink no more, i dont smoke, or do drugs thanks to god (and my self control)

god is sumthing for me to believe in and lets me keep faith in sumthing...

That's good GMO...I do not really goto church as I don't beleive that to worship god you have to goto a small building with other worshippers and listen to a preist tell you how god is, and read the bible to you....
As any person can talk to god, and know God without anybody else affecting there beleifs.
I find nothing wrong with church though cuz at least that's something good that people are beleiving in, people are doing something besides going to the bar, and stuff.

Since you goto church, obviously know the bible well..Could you answer me 1 question about it though that I always found very stupid...

That 10% you are supposed to pay to church from the money you make...I mean...Say somebody makes 1,000 a week (not to many people do), but you have to give 100$ to the church?!
It's not like anybodies actually giving the money to God...There giving it to the church when lots of churches don't even use the money to improve the church! PLUS, I don't know what kind of preist/ people are getting that $$$..For all I know the preist could just take the money for himself.
And I think you'd admit that there are some bad preists out there...Anybody who would rape little boys isn't one of gods people...So, I really don't beleive in that to much...Even though there are probaly good preists out there that use the $$ for good purposes.

Who says that you're supposed to give 10% each week? I've never heard anything like that in my entire life....

I beleive it's somewhere in the bible...You must give 10% of your earnings to the church (don't quote me on that, but I do know somewhere it says that).
Since you are the only 1 who said NO thus far...Could you give an explanation?

Yea, as much as I really don't wanna say it...I kind of am finding a lot about church BS. I have nothing against people who goto church as i've previously mentioned..As I think it's a good idea to get away from things, and nothing wrong to beleive in...
BUT some things in the bible are...Well....Bullshit!

The story of Adam and Eve....first 2 people on earth that god made...They had a great life...They gotta screw it up cuz some snake told them to eat the apple (they could eat ANYTHING else cept that damn apple!!!!)...I know people can't follow rules, but WTF?! Eve created from a rib of Adams...

The story of Noah's Arc...Noah gathered 2 of every species and got them on a boat so don't drown, and they can make more... You know there was probaly millions of different insects at that time, and so many different types of animals that you could not store 2 of each on the Titanic!!!

The story of Samson...Samson (worlds strongest man) had the power of god, but yet he abused it, and was stupid enough to love a woman who betrayed him by taking away his power...In the end god gave him back the power so he could crush the people laughing at him, and of course the dumb bitch realizes she loves him at the end LOL...


Those are great childrens stories (even though there violent), but for people who cannot see that such as myself..These kind of in the Bullshit Department.

Like I said though...I do like the fact that there are rules from the bible (one good thing about it), and at least it's something for people to beleive in...

I don't see how any1 can really deny a god though...As God is Simply YOUR CREATOR. The man who made this world...It doesn't matter wether you love him, or hate him....Wether God isn't what you think he should be....God is your creator.

BTW: I have learned a lot from non-beleivers of god...most of them don't understand anything, and have no opinions about anything...
You ask them Why they don't beleive in god, and they have no answer...not logical anyways..."some things just happen" LOL...
yes, some things just happen...
The trees just so happen to be here so we can breath in oxygen
The flowers just happen to be here to smell nice, and for bees
The water happened to be here so we have something to drink, and some animals habitats
The animals to feed us meat
Seeds came from nowhere so we can grow more trees, food, etc...
You just so happe to have:
A nose for smelling/ breathing
Ears to hear other people
Eyes to see
Hair to keep you warm
muscles so you can lift
legs to walk on
arms
an ass to get rid of toxins that you ate (otherwise you'd blow up LOL)
your able to reproduce
an immune system that helps fight off sickness

Looking at all those things...People still say "things happen for no reason." IMO, that is absolutely the MOST biggest coincidence I have ever heard!!! :wow:

And no, i'm not flaming either as I said there'd be no flaming, but anybody who says "theres no god"
Please make some points in why you think theres no god....That's all I ask ;)

My reason for not believing in a god:

When I look at the stars, they're much more beautiful if you think that they were made entirely by chance.

Philosophical explanations aside, I believe that God, in any form, is merely people seeking an answer as to why we're here. The meaning of life, so to speak. Even when I was very young, I couldn't understand why anyone needed to seek that out so passionately. I take a very "humanist" approach to life...one where you live and do what you do simply because you are here.

You never wondered HOW you got here in the first place?

Although, you probaly won't listen to me and say i'm crazy because of course I cannot know the meaning of life ;)...

The meaning of life is very simple really...Life is just a BIG TEST. You see, god has put you on this earth to see if your worthy enough to be in his heaven...See how you are...
And you'll probaly reply with something like..."he's god...he should know who's worthy" or something like that...So, i'll answer that right now.

MOST people beleive that they are masters of there own destiny (they can do as they choose)...So, if that's the case...Then, don't you have a choice to do good or bad? How could god know what your going to do...Even though he is god?

Nobody has to listen to me...As I gladly accept your beleifs...Just having a chat is all, and trying to understand why some people don't beleive..

Well, I answered HOW I got here with my first statement...sort of. Entirely by chance. What I'm saying though is that God may be your answer as to the meaning of life and all that garbage. Simply living is my answer.

I understand where you're coming from, though. God gave us free will. That's where the test comes in.

My intention is not to convince anyone of anything, I'm merely answering your questions.
