creating a logo - please help...

Hi All!

I was stuffing around on the weekend trying to come up with a logo...

check out the attached zip file - contains some variations of what my limited creativity could come up with...

let me know which ones you prefer - and any hints or suggestions would be appreciated as well.

As you can tell I am no graphic artist - but I like to play...

Damn...first one to vote.....hehe.

I would scrap the ones with all the consoles and the ones with no consoles to start with. The crossfade is a nice touch--definately keep that in there. I'm a bit torn on the arrangement of the XBox and PS2 though. I think that's all you really need in there, since that is at the heart of what the mods will be on. I like the way you snuck the vertical PS2 behind the "P", but it doesn't really seem to catch the eye enough--when you look at it, all you really notice is the console shown at the other end of the logo.

Personally, I have a problem with the XB in general--it's a Micro$oft product, so I am naturally inclined to avoid it.

If I had to choose one, I would go with Pxlogo4--it's a nice logo for the PS2 side of it. To include both the PS2 and XB, I would likely go with Pxlogo5--but I would like to try to make that vertical PS2 stand out a bit more. Maybe if it could be nudged a bit more to the left so you saw more of the side panel and the blue "PS2" label on it. This would require maybe a slight reduction in the forward layered "PSX-MODS" text to keep the banner size the same, or maybe a slight extension of the horizontal lenght of the banner to give the extra room for it to peek out.

Overall, they're all good. Impressive work for a "tinkerer" (hehe). It was hard just narrowing it to a top5, much less 1 or 2!

- good feed back - it is so hard when you are so close to the designs - ya just can't see what needs to be done - it was hard enough coming up with the radicle variations - really hurts to drop bits once you have gone to the effort of adding them!

Anyone else?

Ya. First id start off by ditching the lensflare. Its ok to have a colsole or picture but too many just distracts way too much. Id also try to find a font that is abit more interesting, and id make it sharp rather than the fuzzing effect around it. I dont fancy black backgrounds either, especially if you plan on using it for commerce. lighter color schemes work better for it. You may also want to think about creating a symbol type logo that then says in a font "PSXMods" next to it. Just some ideas

Yeah - that is kind of what I had been thinking but creating a symbol requires a little more skill with the designing than I currently poses!

Yep sort or was thinking of killing the lens flare as well... little to common adobe effect that one!

And as with the black background - I would agree to lighten it if I was a commercial business catering to business men - but as Mods are more for those who like games... well... if you have seen my site and the totally over the top amount of colours used etc - you would know the target audience I am aiming at...

plus who wants another boring white web page that was obviously designed by some over payed web designer who only really knows how to cheat and use microsoft front page and has never written any html code by hand in their lives!

sure they look profesional - but also mass produced - much prefer the gaudy hand made look...

well for this type of business anyway...

And G thanks for the offer - cept even though the kid is ugly the child is mine - so I think I will just continue to randomly blind and send into epileptic fits those who visit my site.

Would be a huge job to totally overhaul the site so I have just resigned myself to build on it and hope no one notices - or sues for permanent retinal damage!
