    Anybody,I need help!
I have a 20GB wd hdd with partitions c:\-5GB and D:\-15 GB.Win 98 is on c:.I tried upgrading to win 2000 but win2000 setup says it cannot install on c: because it is corrupted. So I formated c: and tried a clean install, but same thing happened. Then I tried a clean install on d:,but setup reported that d: is corrupted also.
In the past I had both win 2000 and XP on that hdd without these problems. Is there anything I can do to fix this?Could it help if I format the whole drive and make new partitions,or maybe a low-level formatting?(although a friend told me that low-level formatting is not good for the hdd)
    Please help!!!

a low level format will not solve any problems....

Wipe all partitions from the drive and get Win2k to create them during the install process. Then choose the standard format, not the quick one.

also if it still fails I would run chkdsk to see what is up with that HDD, but I think the longer format may solve your problem
