  1. #1 Can anyone recommend an easy but powerful video editing software?

Ok, I want to edit out commercials from some shows I copied over to my computer from Tivo and the only software I have is what came with my video capture unit is the Ulead software. It is okay but isn't a "logically" easy program, you know what I mean, one where you don't have to read the manual, you just launch it and know how it works. Maybe what I am looking for doesn't exist but what I need is something that lets me start the video, play it frame by frame and select a point (the start of the commercials) then select a second point (the end of the commercials) and click DELETE and it rewrites the video file sans that section. Or I can set all the delete points first and then hit PROCESS and it removes all and re-writes the file. Something really easy like that. Oh and the files are MPEG2. Can anyone recommend something like this? Thanks.

adobe primiere, ulead videostudio, ulead movie factory...all of them cost a lot, but if you're seriously in video editing these are recommended.

    regards, Stephen

I do not know, but maybe virtualdub is also a possible solution, but I am not sure.

Womble MPEG-VCR if you just want to edit out commercials or Womble MPEG Video Wizard if you want to do cuts and some minor transition effects. Both are great programs and I use them alot when editing stuff from my DVD recorder.

Ulead Videostudio 8.0. It's pricey, but you download a totally working demo (only restriction is time) from their site. I use it a lot, it's really easy to use and powerful.
ALLERGY ALERT: The above post may be nuts.

    Consoles:

    *N64, GBA, both un-modded.

    Passed away:

They are in MPEG2. I have Ulead Movie Studio but I don't like it. I think I might get Adobe Premiere.

Ugh! Don't bother with Premiere if all you want to do is cut commercials out of an MPEG-2 file. Use one of the Womble programs I recommended above. They can edit MPEG files WITHOUT re-encoding. Any other program is going to re-encode your movie and probably make it look like shit.
