I'm currently writing a new PC application for iPods, part of which automagically detects your iPod. Now unfortuantly I only have an iPod Video so I'm not 100% if the code I've written will detect all the different versions of iPod (which I want it to).

Here's where you guys come in, I'd be grateful if any of those interested in helping me would run this small app and report back on the results, especially if it doesn't detect your iPod. I'm particularly interested in results from 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen, 4th gen, ipod minis (both gen) and iPod shuffles.
(As always virus scan the exe before running, it's clean but this is good practise in this day and age).

    Thanks!

Scanned exe with Nod32 antivirus, came up clean. Ran iPod Detector with my iPod 4th Gen (20gb, grayscale display), program detected it fine. Also, the program did detect the iPod while it wasn't in disk mode. It was in that mode that's like disk mode, but you plug in the iPod while it's in the standard music browser thingy...

Please note, my iPod is running Rockbox firmware, but I tested the program using the standard iPod firmware which Rockbox allows you to boot into also.

Hope that helps with your program some. Oh, btw, I'm using USB 2.0 to connect my iPod to my computer. Dunno if that helps you any.

    Later, ^_^

    Thanks camintmier

Can you explain further what you mean by "that mode that's like disk mode" please. I may have to change the detection routine if the program is detecting the drive when it's not showing in Windows.
