Burning while on The Net Problem
Burning while on The Net Problem –
07-02-2003,06:15 PM
This is a really stupid problem....Basically, I get on the net, and I goto copy a game...The Bastard throws me off! I start copying while off the net, and try to log on THROWS ME OFF!
I use RecordNow, and I also tried Alcohol 120%...They both throw me off, or keep me off. My ISP is Compuserve (kind of like AOL-The POS
), but i've also tried Netzero (throws me off too). Doesn't seem to matter.
Is anything running to do this? Or can I turn it off? Or is it just something that I gotta deal with?
Thanks for any replies.

You shouldn't be multitasking while burning a dvd anyways, and I guess the software is try to tell that to you.

Burning can be extremely CPU intensive--especially if you don't have a DMA capable burner with burnproof functions. I would suggest you look into these options to see if you need to enable them--it might solve the problem.
Depending on your modem's init string, you may be getting thrown off because of a time-out setting. You need to ramp up this wait state setting so it waits longer for the data stream to resume after interuption or CTS/RTS commands are being sent. If the CPU or line lags behind too long, the modem itself will throw you off. AO-Hell and Compu-Suck have higher latency than most other IP's. You may be getting hammered on both the increased CPU lag and the higher lag from the TNT entry point TWC/AOL uses. I forget the command, but I think it was S=50 or higher number. You can probably get info on it in your modem's manual or a readme associated with your drivers. Some companies have a detailed .pdf on their website that lists all the command strings for the initialization strings. AO-Hell probably has some info on it in their own help section (this setting is a universal Hayes compatible modem command).
