Arrrrrrrrr, all the ones in my neck of the woods have a shut their doors many moons ago. I wishes I could find me a good BBS...but thens...with a cable modem and the net, why would I wants ta downgrade to a painful 56k connection???
Because that's so Old-School buddy
WHATS BBS!!!!!? ?? ? !?!?!?!? ?

Bulletin Board System
A way early text only version of what you're experiencing here now with vBulletin. In those days a SysOp would set up a few phone lines with dial-in modems so that folks could share information and hold threaded conversations. 300 to 2400 baud was the big thing back then. If the lines were busy, you had to wait until someone hung up before you could dial-in and get on. None of this fancy internet stuff...
Probably never heard of FIDO net either (and no, I'm not making that one up...)
Hello there Dudez!
Here I am from the good old school!!!
Still gettimng my BBS up and running reacheable via modem and telnet!!!! And running on my GREAT Amiga 4000 (will never die) :-)
It's quite sad understanding that bbs are nowadays unkown to most of the sceners.
Hoping to teach newbies to the OLD SCHOOL...

my biggist problem with telnet enabled bbs's is that they dont give that same sense of community and with the internet there is no real good resone to goto bbs downloads leaving only message boards and doors..
of which developing a community interested in the message boards is down right insane nowadays...
and doors.. well they are just for those types of people that are into the nestalga of LORDS and junk hehe
