Yes, interesting.
As the article notes, there is a difference between encryption and digital signatures. As far as Public-key cryptography, the RSA algorithm suits the needs of the public well enough, provided the key size is large enough, and the implementation sound. As computing power increases, so does the default key size used in software, such as a web browser on a secure web site (https).
If you go to the Wikipedia article on the RSA algorithm, there is an interesting link at the bottom - "An animated explanation of RSA with its mathematical background by CrypTool"
