I have an Apex AD-600A and had to upgrade the drive's firmware before I could get it to play DVD-R. It involved taking the cover off the Apex and PC and hooking the Apex drive into the PC so I could read the current f/w version. Some Apex drive models allow a CD upgrade but you have to take the cover off your Apex first anyway to find the drive version.
How would you do the cd upgrade, is it a company released cd or do you have to burn it and if so what do you put on it??? Asking because one of my relatives has a APEX but hasn't tried any dvd-r yet (he lives 1000 miles away but I was going to send him a couple movies...) any info or kinks would be great....![]()
I have an Apex AD-1500 that's flashable. Try a few of these links for more info:
