Annual Gaming Tournament

I think we need a Annual Gaming tournament...

for all at ps2newz to participate in atleast once a year (by all I just mean the people who post often) or anyone who wants to participate...

possible Games

Counter-Strike - Disadvantages- Requires a valid UNIQUE serial, and requires broadband

Starcraft, or Starcraft Broodwar: works well with 56k, anyone can get it and play simultaneously. Disadvantages- Requires a lot of time to learn to play, not very exciting.

possible servers: well for counter-strike I'm sure I could rustle up a fast dedicated server :) (as long as it's only a couple hours)

Starcraft is hosted on battle.net, but there could be complications playing across the nation b/c you logon to a server near you...and sometimes it can be annoying...

please come up with more ideas for games/servers because both of mine kind of suck. This is definitely something I would like to do and sure many of you would like to...

is there a way to play that online?

isnt there a way to make custom levels for that?

if there is a ps2newz themed level all the way! that will sure make the bastards at ownz all jealous.

there are ways to run starcraft on private servers..

yes I know there use to be a server called gameI or something, probably a game patch, but how many people would really be interested in a SC tourny? I would. but I was thinking something with a lot of excitement like Counter-Strike or something where we could interact more

Freespace was a good combat space-flight sim. Logged an ass of time in there, and that has a standalone server option built in. It's in the bargain racks at Wally World for like $10 now, with the Silent Threat add-on missions included.

Freespace 2 was real popular for dogfight lovers as well. There are some custom skins out there for the ships. I never got into it that deep, but you can map your own squad logo's to your fighters. I wonder if there would be a way to put Ownz logos on the enemy Shivan ships and Newz logos on the allied Terran/Vasudan ships. Nice way to vent some aggression......hehehe.....

we could do that with counter-strike hehehehe :D Never heard of those games, sound fun though, I was hoping we could do something that was ahem how you say...not cost our members anything ;) doesn't mean it has to be shareware ;)

EDIT is there a way to bypass won authenticiation on counter-strike, and go straight to a private server? hmmm

i vote for Starcraft :p Sure its not all that exciting but it takes good brain skills.

Action Quake 2 is my favorite game of all time.
Like counter strike but faster, quake 2, strafe jumping! and way earlier in development.

Anyone played it?

I never did get into those post-Quake games. Kinda burnt out on the genre. Seems I do remember seeing a Counter Strike/Half-Life server crack somewhere on one of those carcks sites though.....might be worth researching.
