My girlfriend's mother passed away suddenly on February 14. She had a rare blood disease abbreviated TTP that had her in a coma about 17 years ago and she was given her last rites then, but she made a big recovery. A few weeks back she was hospitalized again for a few days and then recovered and was back to work and everything.
My girlfriend got a call at our apartment on Monday morning from her mother's place of work saying that she had not shown up and had not called in, and since that wasn't like her, they were concerned. So I drove my girlfriend out to her mom's apartment, we pulled in and there was a police car there. The officer already inside the complex gave my girlfriend the news.
There is a fairly decent chance that this could be medical malpractice, she had fired her doctor about 2 weeks before this. The funeral was this past Thursday.
This is obviously one of the most difficult things that can happen to somebody, but I'm going to get my girlfriend through it, I'll always be there for her.
Anyway, my advice to all of you is to always cherish what you have, you never know when it may not be there anymore. Also, always make sure to get multiple opinions if you have a serious medical problem.
