2.0 usb question

i have a laptop and i am looking into purchasing a 2 Port USB 2.0 CardBus Laptop Adapter Card after i install this will i be able to burn a dvd at 4x or will it just continue to burn at under 1x?

were you using slower USB before?

why couldn't you burn at 4x before...

please be more specific...

yes my burner is an nec 1300a dvd-r, rw,-r 4x but it is an external for my laptop. i beleive my usb port is an 2.0 but for some reason my maximum burn speed is .4x if i use dvd decrypter so i think it may be an 1.1 usb port. so can i change tghe speed if i buy a 2 Port USB 2.0 CardBus Laptop Adapter Card

what is .4x? like not even half of 1x or a typo ? and what error do you get when trying to use nice 4x media?

no its no type-o its .4x not even a full 1x i dont get a error code it just records slow . it takes me over 2 hrs to burn a game or movie.

it's probably the USB, I don't know much about lappies, but shouldn't standard USB 1 be able to transfer at 2x?

did your dvd burner say a requirement was USB 2.0?

considering the fastest a cd burner could go with usb 1.1 was 4x and a dvd is about 8 times the size, it would make sense that he would be burning at ~0.5x..
i am not completely sure if a cardbus adapter would work, but you still would get more speed out of it than using a usb slot..

it said it can be used as a standard 1.1 or hook up as a fireware so thagt is an 2.0 hook up. it still shouldnt copy a dvd two hours could it why if its installed (dvd burner) enternally it would copy 4x?

firewire and usb 2.0 are two differnet things, i say get the firewire.....
