Just got this movie on blu-ray. If you have seen Evangelion 1.01, or 1.11; then, SPOILER ALERT, prepare to have your f***ing mind blown. Even if you have only seen the TV series. Even if you have never seen an anime. It is that good!

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Platinum Collection (Complete Series)

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death and Rebirth
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion


This is the order I would watch it in. Or you can start with the complete series first, Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion second, and the movies afterwards.

Defenitely Save Death and Rebirth, and The End of Evangelion until you have watched the complete show.

You have about 2-3 years to catch up until the next Evangelion movie is relesed!

The rebuilds are awesome! I have watched both in their original intended form in Japanese with English subs. I am eagerly awaiting for 3.0/3.33. It takes way to damn long for them to release another rebuild. I haven't heard any news about 3.0 either. I'm a diehard EVA fan and I can't wait to see all of them when they are finished. I plan on going all the way back to 1.11 and watching the entire rebuild series after all of them are released.

EDIT: I have to say Asuka looks hot as hell in her new plugsuit. It sucks that they changed her name though!

Just a few words about the original series and movies:

If you're very particular about quality and fanatical about the series then I'd strongly advise you try and get hold of the Japanese "Renewal of Evangelion" box set, it has far better video and audio quality than any other release (except maybe the Laserdiscs) especially for the feature length episodes. The American and UK releases of EoE could well qualify as some of the worst mastered anime DVDs in existence.

Failing that (they're incredibly rare and expensive, and feature no English audio or subtitles) avoid American releases and try and look for European releases from smaller publishers. I know for a fact the Italian release of EoE is from the Renewal master.

Are you ready for this?!?!? Did you notice everytime Shinji looked at this walkman, it said 25 or 26!?!?! That is because (according to one of the extras I watched on the platinum series) everything is just "flashbacks?!?!", the only episodes that are not, are 25 and 26!!!?!?!

Also, now that you have finished the TV series, I suggest you watch Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebith, and Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion. It will give you a little better understanding to what happens at the end of Evangelion 2:22.

Wow, I had this reccomended to me, but now I may have to check this out.
I'm not really an anime person, I loved Code Geass, but not really any others, but this sounds interesting.
