Stuck analog stick

I have an original US release PSP1001 that has been working great for ages now - however about a year ago the analog stick started pulling to different directions. I ordered a replacement for it, opened up the PSP and was able to install it without any issues, however shortly thereafter I started having the same issue. Is the primary cause for this moisture (I believe I read that somewhere)? Should I just replace it one more time?

Is the faceplate screwed on fairly tight? Sometimes poorly screwed on faceplate leaves some space between the analog stick board and the contact rubber (be sure not to lose the rubber piece).

Does the contact rubber look pretty clean? no dust, etc?

How bad is the pull? I had an analog stick that did a slight pull, only noticeable in games like Metal Gear Peace Walker where the character will walk very slowly in a certain direction.
I attempted to open up the analog stick module and put back together (a pain because of that spring inside..) But it only messed up the analog stick even more. So i wouldn't recommend doing that unless you have a spare and you like opening your PSP a lot (I hate trying to keep the lcd screen dust free. lol)

The faceplate is pretty secured, and that all seems fine - Perhaps I will try opening it up again tonight to make sure it's in there properly and hope that it works again.

The pull is pretty random often pulling to the right and down, causing games that might require up and or left pulling to not register as good (eg. LBP won't run to the left at all, just kind of creeps to the left, but can run properly to the right. And switching depth to the back generally is not doable).

I'll post how it goes - just annoyed to have to possibly order another replacement switch from China and wait for ages

clean the rubber peace of to try and get better connection and if all else fails use joysens plugin its what i use since i lost my rubber contact peace(went flying when took psp apart as was having same issues of analog pulling and/or would move fast in one directiona dn slow in another)

and if ur analog is getting stuck u screwed it too tightly to the faceplate try tightly screwing it but not too tight. as that would happen to me sometimes if tightened it to much the stick would get stuck in certain directions.

of all else fails joysens works fine and can reassing ur analog function. i have been playign my psp for past couple months wihtout a rubber peice in it no problem. at least ur psp doesnt soft brick itslef(and im talking non pandora fixing brick)

i have the same problem, it tends to "pull" into left-down at times.
i suppose i didn't screw the psp back last time i tried opening it and it's a bit loose.

NO dont replace it. i had the same problem for years. i replaced the stick two time each workling for a good couple of months and then stop.
my best advive is get a psp slim if your still into gaming. psp 2001 that is.
the analog stick on this model has been corrected.

The slimline's analog stick isn't invulnerable to the drifting issue either. I had fixed 2 of my friends' PSPs that had drifting analog sticks.

BTW the last 2 digits of a model number is a region code. A PSP-2001 is a USA PSP.

Im having the same problem with my PSP-2001. Started out with the Joystick sticking in one direction. I replaced the Analog and made sure to swapover the Silicon connector. After a while it seems as if the analog is slightly stuck in either left or right. I have replaced it a few times but it still is acting up.
