Hey, everyone.
I've been using this forum to teach myself a bit about installing custom firmware onto my newly purchased PSP. I'm confident that can install it now, but I'm unsure as to how to ascertain my Motherboard information to know whether or not I can install it permanently.
I've looked all around here and through google and haven't quite figured it out. I'm not foolish enough to believe that I'm the first person to encounter this issue, but perhaps I'm just too stupid to find the answer. With that, I've come to you. So if this HAS been answered before, please forgive me as my inability to find it isn't for lack of trying.
The PSP Model is a 2001.
There is no date code beneath the battery.
I do not have the original box.
I am currently using the official Firmware Version 6.60
I am not using a Pandora battery.
Best that I can tell, I'll have to temporarily install a custom firmware to run a program that will identify the model of motherboard that I have. Am I correct in that assumption?
Any suggestions on which cfw I should install would be great. I'm looking to upgrade it safely and permanently.
Thank you in advance for the assistance!
**EDIT: The Serial Number beneath the battery begins with HU0. Sorry, forgot to include that in my post originally.

Back when I was hacking PSPs for friends, I was using this method. I'm not too sure of its relevance now, but it should do the job. Just post back if it doesn't work and I'm sure someone will come along to help

So, I successfully temp-installed the 6.60 Pro B10 cfw onto my PSP. Can I run PSP Ident with this cfw instead of Chickhen?

Yes you can run it in any PRO version to find you mobo
just make sure that your 2000 is not one of the ones that can perm before you run CIPL_Flasher
But even if you are not one of the ones you could downgrade to 6.20 and make it perm I have even done it on a couple 3000 model

Oh awesome. ^^ I was able to permanently flash it without any problems, but now I'm having another issue. Every iso that I've tried to run so far has had either terrible slow down (Dissidia 1/2) or freezes immediately (Final Fantasy Tactics:WoTL). I'm not sure what the problem is. I changed to the m33 driver with no luck. I'm using a Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo mark 2 4GB card. Any ideas? Thanks again.

Well hook to PC do a disk check with repair maybe something is wrong on MS but another thing
Go to recovery menu check the settings and advanced especially ms speed up and ISO Cache
Mine works best MS speed up off
enable ISO cache 20
384
LRU rule
and if you have ISO on disable always Force High memory if using PRO C
but if you intend to go online with the new PRO ability reverse that turn of Cache enable High Memory needs it to run the prx files
Some other help to turn game clock helps but should not be need for those games you said I have both but just to let you know FFT:WoTL has slow down anyway
it is a mistake by Square but their is a patch for it WotL Slowdown Removal Patch

Hmm, I tried those ideas to no avail. ; ; But worse than that, I've developed a new problem for myself. As I was looking through the settings, I hit X on ISO video mount to see whether I had any other options available. When I did, the select menu immediately started flashing and the entire xmb began to slow down and shake.
When I restarted it, the XMB takes a couple of minutes to come up, other than the date, time, and battery life icons. The entire thing continues to jutter up and down and the slowdown persists. Not sure what I did, but there's nothing I can do involving the ISO video mount that I know of.
Sure wish I could just get this damn thing playing right. T_T Sorry for the hassle.

Sounds to me like a bad install with the CIPL_Flasher run it again uninstall with this first run update uninstall
then install PRO CFW with update then run CIPL_Flasher again should work after that something did not get installed right first time
You sound close to bricking it BTW good luck

Oh! I know what it was now. I think I adjusted my CPU Clock XMB and Game speeds. They were set too low. I placed them to 133/66 and it's no longer juttering and stuff. Not sure why I had changed them in the first place. =_=
