The saves just appears corrupt to the games after changing your FW from 5.50 GEN to anything else.

EDIT: I should probably mention that only some saves will appear corrupt. The others will still appear fine. So if you are fortunate, you might not lose any saves.
BTW: Using the latest CFW (E.g. 6.60 ME) will allow you to access the PSN, so you might as well complete your games and dump 5.50 GEN.
Not to mention that the new ME CFWs have a proper Memory Stick Access speedup option that doesn't damage any part of your FW (and like the 5.00 M33-6 speedup option, it's faster than FATMSMOD).
I've tried to copy a PSN-downloaded game (a demo) from my friend onto my PSP's memory stick before, and it didn't work. So maybe you have to download the game from the PSN onto the target memory stick.
