    What windows are you using?

I guess you using a card reader to make the memory stick?

Have you try all the various buttons? -- Up, Right, Left, Down, Left-Trigger, etc?

The programs I used which have worked for me in the past are:

    "Total-V2"
    "SetupPSPallinone.msi"
    "PSP Pandora Deluxe v3.1"

The last one seems to be the best for me on my current Windows XP machine.

The tough part on getting a PSP memory stick to work is installing the IPL boot sector.

On the side note, guess what the v6.20 Kernel Key has been found! (Hint/Hint) -- PSP3000/PSPgo Pandora Time! (I Hope!)

im using windows xp and a usb pro duo adapter, i tried pandora deluxe and yes i tried all the buttons but just cant get it to boot
for the heck of it i tried booster's multi ipl and had it load the normal ipl by pushing l trigger and it made the led's not light up
but i turn it on using like say the up on the dpad and both led's flashed non stop indicating that it didnt load the ipl since i didnt have one named for that lol....

so im not sure i think the ipl is loading but the memory led doesnt flash like its loading because ive used pandora before and it always flashed and gave me some kind of idea it was loading

and im sure the battery works considering the power led comes on and stays green without a memcard in it,
the card is the same one i used before for my pandora set before i had to pawn my psp so i dont think its the memcard

Try another type of memory stick. -- Or maybe the card reader is dirty on the PSP, or worse broken or bend pins. -- I go with different memory stick, what is the current size amd make you are trying? -- Real Sony or knockoff clone?

That stick sounds fine. Sounds like a Hardware issue, although i'm always partial to Rain's Ultralite Installers when i create a MMS.

You're sure that it's a PSP-1001?? Slimlines are PSP-20xx, and brites are PSP-30xx. Not to mention that a PSP GO! is PSP-40xx. PHATS are PSP-10xx consoles.

What were you trying to accomplish? If your PSP acts like that, it seems like a software crash.

When you create a "Magic MemoryStick", you must encounter no errors when the software injects the IPL.

You must also have the right firmware file available for the PC-side installer if you were installing a CFW installer to your MS.

^ heh i know what im doing guy the psp seems to be bricked so i was gonna unbrick it
a friend gave me this psp free of charge and said if i can fix it i can have it.

i been dealing with psp's since the days of the 1.50 hack so i been in the game for a little while now im just having major issues atm,

the ipl was injected just fine as i used msinst to doit on my xp machine
the problem im having is the damned thing wont load pandora wich makes me think perhaps either the screen is out or that there's some other hardware error,

and i was merly testing booster's ipl as it made the led's flash constantly when i held a button i hadnt had an ipl mapped to and it made them solid when i used the normal ipl for pandora, meaning there's something funky with this psp.

For MMS, I use PSP Grader v008

And used this guide for psp disassembly. Be careful not to lose screws.
I'm paranoid about scratching the lcd screen inside and the back of the faceplate (I hear it's easily scratchable.) So if any dust comes on it, I just use some of that weak magic tape to pull them off.
