    hi
    ive been out of the psp scene for ages now but have a phat psp here with 5.50 GEN-D3, i was wondering does the new cfw require me to have a working UMD drive ?, i have it , it just dont work.
    thanx

    UPDATE::
    ive since built myself a new psp 1003 from scratch using my %100 clear casing (with sony logo's), the UMD drive is working but is noisey (sweet). now to put LED's in.

    In short: no. All you need is a memory stick.

    You don't have to.
    Unlike the PS3, the PSP will still retain it's gameplay abilities even without it's drive.

    The only problem you will ever have that way is that you cannot play games that are stored on UMDs. (Duh!)
