I bought a new psp 3000, with official firmware 6.60. I want to load custom firmware on it, but don't know my options. This is my first time doing anything like this (and my first psp), so I am a bit lost. Can someone answer the following questions for me?

-What custom firmwares are available and what are their official sites?
-Where can I find a guide to installing the most popular custom firmware (if there is one) for a psp at official firmware 6.60? I read the sticked guide in the tutorials section (cant post it because of my post count) but couldn't follow it because it was on a mac (never used one before) and because it didn't link to the firmware in question.
-There seems to be a lot of different types of apps to load - can someone give me a brief run down of what sorts of apps I can put on the psp? for instance one of the screenshot in the guide i linked has something called "pro updater."

    It worked, thanks.

Just one problem. I tried out a game from an ISO and it had movie problems, the movie stuttered badly and audio sounded stuttery in non-movie situations. Is there a fix for this? Is it perhaps my memory card? (its a sandisk 8gb)

Also thanks for the explanation of the acronyms!

I fixed the stutter problem myself.
