Howdy guys. I've been experiencing a weird problem lately. Some older games such as Ace Combat X have had really bad fmv lag. I've also experienced slowdowns in GTA:LCS while walking around that make it nearly unplayable.

I tried this on both my PSP-1000 and 2000 with the same results. I've tried both 5.00 M33 and the latest Gen firmware with v4 Prometheus. I know it's not the memory stick because it was the same one i used to play the games on the really old CFW years ago with no problems. And i know it's not the image file since they are uncompressed ISOs and I've tried using ISOs i dumped myself from my store bought copies and scene releases with the same results. The games do work fine from UMD however on both firmwares which really perplexes me.

If anybody could help me out with this I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

That's just it though. The FMVs in new games work fine and i recently got a new 8gig stick which exhibits the same behavior.

I've tried running the games on both normal CPU speed and 333MHz with no real change.

If you are using 5.00 M33-6 or 6.39 ME-4, try to enable the Memory Stick Access speedup for at least GAME mode.

If you are using any other M33, GEN or neur0n's firmwares before 6.39 ME-4, you can't really do anything to the firmware except for installing the old 5.00 M33 FATMSMOD patch (But this has some side effects).

Blame Sony for replacing the Memory Stick driver with a really slow one since the days of FW 3.80 to around FW 6.00.

Above all, do not compress games unless your memory stick can be accessed quickly.
Compression does slow down performance dramatically.
