Why is the down volume and home buttons not working?
i am not good on psp enough but its either the cfw problem ( and it might be One/All of your plugins are causing the problem. Just disable them and see if its gonna work or not .or its the hardware ( check the ribbon cables for the buttons ) .but i think its a hardware problem
did it worked on OFW ? which psp model is that ?
It was working b4 with my custom firmware.
Its a very early model 1000 JAP, I tried formatting flash 1 (reset all hacks to default) and still those 2 buttons are not working.
I suppose I'll have to take it apart and check it with my meter.
This is especially annoying for me because I'm a down home kinda guy.

ok when you open it check the ribbon cables for buttons .and post the results ..
Ok i took off the faceplate and found that the down and home buttons have misterious brown goo in them I tryed to clean them off the best I could but no good, so I ordered a replacement part. B4 the new part comes in Im gonna try soaking the goo out in isopropyl alcohol and then letting it evaporate
You know I have no idea what the goo could be I only drink water and I have NEVER spilled anything in it ever anyway so what could it be?

It is a common problem with PSP, over time, the little ribbon cable no longer works, and a replacement will work fine.
Sometimes cleaning out the "goo" will help, but most times not, as the little printed circuit is very weak and once you get a crack in the lines it stops working.
I have always wonder myself where this "goo" comes from, I see it myself on many PSP's and DS's I have repaired, the only answer I can think of is tiny micro-bugs eating your small pieces of dead-skin that flake off over time, while pushing the buttons, etc.
At my repair shop, I stock all those ribbon cables used on the PSP1000 and 2000, as I see about dozen of these problems a week.
yeah btw, what kind of adhesive do you use to affix the board to the metal plate?
A good replacement part will come with a thin piece of double-sided tape on the back of the ribbon, just pull off the brown backing and press it into place and it should stay stuck.
If your replacement part does not, you need to get a roll of very thin double-sided tape from your local hardware store, that is the best, using glues like "super glue" may eat thru the plastic ribbon destorying your replacement part over time giving you back the same problem or worse.
ok, thanks.
Ya you cant go wrong with double sided tape when it comes to those ribbin cables..
Deffenty stay away from any kind of glue as it will/can eat throu the plastic as well as prevent contact with the board it self after time..

Ya Im Bi-Poler and proud of it
