I've just got a new PSP 3003 Slim and Lite for fifty quid, and I've not got round to mucking about with it yet, so I have a few questions.

If I want to buy a new/spare battery for it, where should I get one from? I gather the official extended battery kit has been discontinued, and was never released in the UK where I am. Also, if I buy a physically bigger battery, does anyone sell the bigger battery covers? I've heard that some batteries are labelled as a higher mah rating than they actually are. I know that the replacement DS Lite battery I got from Deal Extreme doesn't seem to be anywhere as long lasting as the lower rated original battery that came with the DS.

If I want to run the PSP from the mains sometimes, should I take the battery out? If I have the battery in, won't it slowly charge it up and eventually reduce the life of the battery, by keeping it at max charge?

Finally, what's the difference between the permanent and non permanent firmwares? I've read the tutorials and I'm not sure. I'd imagine the permanent firmware can't be removed in the same way the non permanent version does. But does the Non permanent version still let me run homebrew without having to select any other option first?

I can't answer your questions about the battery, but as for the firmwares, the permanent patch is meant for people with PSP 1000's or hackable PSP 2000's. If you use the permanent patch on your PSP 3000 I can guarantee a bricked console. I suggest just sticking with the fast recovery option, it really isn't that annoying and there is no chance of a bricked console.

use this. works well. PSP Custom Firmware PRO-B10 Released | PSP-Hacks: Hack your PlayStation Portable

Good place to start for batteries.

    UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_...attery&x=0&y=0

    GB: http://www.amazon.de/s/ref=nb_sb_nos...attery&x=0&y=0

I'm not familiar with quid so if you don't use the UK or German amazon, Then look at bottom to select your country. Then search what you want.
