Your frends micro sd card + adapter (I assume thats what you mean) is faster that your card.
More expencive dose not mean better, speed of both types of cards can differ.

It's strange, the store says speed 160mb/s on pro duo, and the micro with adapter 10mb/s..:S
And the price for a pro duo is way more expensive. And still seem to suck:/

The way the card is formatted can also have a slight effect on access times. Where they both formatted directly by the PSP?

If you inscrease the the size units when formatting you can get better speeds for larger files but more space on the card gets waisted.

    - does it have "high speed" caption on the card?
    - does it support magicgate? (press triangle on the memstick in xmb to find out).

there are lot of amazingly well created fakes (i have a few). checking for magicgate is one of the ways to find out. the other one is to run a memstick benchmark on psp.

fake mem cards on the net are getting outta hand. Ordered a kingston 2gb sd card, blew up like a week later, went to do a RNA on it, and the model number was fake, I scanned the card with the scanner and emailed it to the rep, and he was like, uhh yeah, that isn't one of ours.

Not sure how I or him formated the cards, I geuss we did the formatting with the help of a program on the computer, with the PSP plugged by usb.
Hmm, If I were to format my memorystick, can I just copy and paste my old files back when it's done? And, is formatting directly from the PSP good or bad?

    .
It says Magic Gate on it, and don't think the store I bought it from has fakes. But can't hurt to look.

of-course you can copy your files back into the card.
It probubly wont make much of a differince but to get the best possiple acess times if your under windows set allocation unit size as high as it will go.
