welp i tried just trying to help the people in the world man
Thatīs no problem (you have a good intention in this case).
He only pointed you to the right thread and moved your posts accordingly, because this thread is intended for the exact same thing and also is stickied, so probably there are more people which will see your post (in future).
hi all, i'm new to psxscene and the psx scene in general here. my brother just came back from overseas and his psp seems to be bricked. he says a buddy was using it, and during an update the thing shut off. now it won't turn on. the green power led lights up when i flick the power switch, but it turns back off after maybe five seconds, with no video or audio activity.
i'm pretty computer literate so i took the thing apart [with help from youtube] but couldn't see anything obviously wrong.. after tracking down some more leads, i ended up finding out about pandora batteries and that this psp is probably bricked from the interrupted update. i'm more of a nintendo guy [homebrewed wii, here], so anything sony will be new to me. i see the cheapest pandora battery kit from pandora's store is $20 [the 1gb model], and my question is, is it basically plug and play? how do they work? i won't need anything else? i would be starting out at the kindergarten level here with custom firmware and that stuff, but i don't think my bro needs anything like emulators or the ability to play backups.. i think he would just appreciate it useable again.
i see from this thread that there are some friendly sorts out there willing to do the dirty work of working an oem battery and mem stick to whatever makes them the pandora variety? would i be better off asking someone else for unbricking help and mailing them this psp, or would it be better to give pandora $20 and try it myself, having the oem battery and mem stick available as backup? then i'd have to figure out what CFW to install.. maybe someone else can easily unbrick it, and i wouldn't need to buy anything from pandora.
sorry if this causes any eyerolls. it's always great to occasionally be a n00b. thank you, readers.
