Power & Save Question –
05-13-2012,11:54 PM
Hello forum,
Question 1
I have a blue, thin PSP 2001 model with costume firmware. Last year, around August or September, I updated to 6.60 PRO and had no problems. However, before the update and continuing after, I am experiencing power issues. Sometimes it won't happen, but sometimes it will and when it does, it goes on for a few second, which varies between 2-15 seconds, and then shuts down. I am using a Pandora LED Battery as my battery (it has buttons on it), and wondering how to resolve this, or what could be the problem?
I tried the charger cord, and it doesn't work either. And my battery is full, so that can't be it. I noticed that I have to turn my cord a little bit this or that way to charge, but that's really rare. Also, my sister and brother play it and keep the battery out while playing. Could that be another cause? I remember reading that you shouldn't take your battery out of the PSP a lot or leave it out of the PSP, or it will mess up. But again, I'm completely lost as to what the problem is or how to fix it.
Unfortunately, I cannot keep it on long enough to check exact details. Last time I fixed it, was when I reput Prometheus on, and then again when I updated to Pro. But now that I'm on Pro, I'm not sure how to do a fresh install of it or whatnot.
Lastly, is it possible to use a normal battery after I mod using a Pandora battery? Or would that cause problems? My LED P battery doesn't stay in the 2001 model well, though the original, un modded battery does.

Question 2
Is it possible to convert or use PSN saves, over to the PC for emulators and whatnot? The PSP's screen is really small, and my kid brother doesn't really like looking at it when playing Spyro, makes his head and eyes hurt.
I heard you can convert emu saves such as .mcr to PSP, but I couldn't find anything else.

You should use another batter besides pandora to play but it shouldn't do that and all you have to do to update to new with pro it run cpl uninstall
run pro update run cpl again
You may have pandora running to if switch shut it off and try and switch I would look around for pandora converter make it a real battery again if you don't have spare that is if you do use spare just in case you need for possible brick
and look for RJL(Remote Joy Lite) you could use USB to PC and see in full screen with most games but not sure if 6.60 version is out yet
I have not seen any converter but may be wrong their but you could look at most likely site to have info on it

Oh man, I had a suspicious I had to play with another battery! I have a black battery that came with the PSP, and has not been modded. Should that work in this case? As for reinstalling Pro 6.60, do you have a link explaining it a bit more? I don't know how to use CPL other than using it to install.
I am also concerned about the issue of needing to remake my MS too, because that's what I had to do with Prometheus...
I have tried Remote Joy Lite, and got it to work perfectly on one of my PCs. But that PC is broken and the only one I have now, a Netbook, refusing to install the needed stuff to let the PSP hook up to the PC, so I was forced to look for emulation instead.
That forum helped! I did a bit of searching, and found something called "VMP to MCR Converter", and it worked perfectly! Although I had to keep the default ePSXE memory card names. lol

Yea pandora's are notorious for charging problems and about using your other battery it should work fine I have PSP GO with perm 6.20 PRO
and of course you know that can not do pandora
and about tut here is one but instead of install it should also say uninstall before update to any new FW you should run CIPL Flasher for the CFW of that version to uninstall then update with PRO after then Run New CIPL Flasher that came with the PRO package so if their was changes in CIPL Flasher it will fix problems
How to: Make 6.39 PRO-B permanent. (for 1000s and hackable 2000s) Tutorials
So short version
1 run CIPL Flasher uninstall
2 run PRO update uninstall
3 I would shut down
4 once started run new PRO update
5 run and install new CIPL Flasher
That is short list

Thank you for the link, RandQalan!
I do not know if I will be able to get my PSP long enough to do any of that, but I report on it if I can or can't.
EDIT:
Alright, putting my black battery in let it stay on for around 30-40 seconds, and then it just turned off. Just in case though, I'm charging this battery. I haven't used it in a really long time. Then I'll try again.
EDIT 2:
Alright, charged the battery and it seems to stay on. But it was rather sporadic when playing games, so I'll have to check that out. I also tried the system without the memory card in, and it stayed on as well. I'm hoping just switching to my black battery fixes this, because if I have to uninstall and reinstall, it might turn off during the process. :sweat

Alright, not even charged does this battery stay on. Now it turns on randomly, sometimes every ten minutes, and then again 2-3 hours later. I tried charging it, but it still does it. Removing the memory card stops it though.
Is it possible to reinstall 6.60Pro with the system off using the memory card? Or, if that's not possible, is there a way to redo my magic memory stick without ruining my CFW?

Sounds to me like you have corruption on MC so why not just hook to pc and do disk check with fix errors might fix
never have found any way to install CFW with MC
and if you backup your stuff maybe magic then put back on might work for CFW fix cfw is stored for perm of that model in flash0 I think so no mc means it should boot CFW

Terribly sorry for the late reply.
So I should try to scan and fix the memory card using the PC?

Alright, I will try it. Gotta back everything up first, just in case. xD
Should I use the PC's version of fixing the errors, or is there a program I should try instead? And just to be sure, this won't effect CFW, right?
